There's just no rest when you're visiting the United States. But after the three days spent in Supai you'll not only miss civilization, but also want to recover from the fatigues of a splendid but not easy adventure. So, if you're following our exact route, there is one and only place in the world perfect for the day after Havasu. We are obviously talking about one of the five most fascinating cities in the US and, to be honest, one of the first five for quality of life: Sedona, Arizona. However, there're more than 250 km between the Hualapai Hilltop, the now "famous" parking lot from which you resume your trip, and the majestic "red city": it means you'll need to make a stop. Where? We visited a park along the legendary route 66, in the town of Williams. Its name is Bearizona Wildlife Park.

COME ORGANIZZARE LA VISITA A BEARIZONA WILDLIFE PARK
Inserito dal Magazine Usa Today nella top ten dei "drive through wildlife park" e visitato ogni anno da circa 300.000 persone, Bearizona Wildlife Park non dovrebbe mai mancare nei "must see places" durante un on the road dei grandi parchi, in particolar modo se state viaggiando con bambini al seguito. Siamo a Williams, da dove partono i mitici treni verso il Grand Canyon, in un territorio dove, anche se non si direbbe, gli orsi sono davvero di casa.
HOW TO ORGANIZE THE VISIT TO BEARIZONA WILDLIFE PARK
Listed by the USA Today in the top ten of the "drive through wildlife park" and visited every year by about 300.000 people, Bearizona Wildlife Park should never be missing in the "must see places list" during a trip to the Grand Canyon and the other amazing parks of Arizona, especially if you are traveling with children. We are in Williams, home of the Grand Canyon Railway, in an area where bears are really at home.
E non poteva allora mancare lo zoo safari che permette di vedere gli animali (non solo orsi), nel loro habitat naturale. Si percorre un loop con la propria auto e, al termine, avrete anche la possibilità di percorrere parte anche a piedi. Durante le 3 miglia che percorrerete in auto lungo una strada a senso unico, avrete la possibilità di avvicinare diverse specie di animali: gli orsi ovviamente, ma anche i bisonti, le capre delle Rocky Mountains, le pecore dell'Alaska, cervi, gli american burros, i lupi dell'Alaska e molti altri ancora. E' ovviamente proibito abbandonare la propria vettura.
Then it could not miss the safari zoo, which allows visitors to see animals (not just bears) in their natural habitat. Bearizona is approximately 160 acres. Visitors will drive through more than three miles of Ponderosa Pine Forest viewing North American animals in natural habitats when they visit. More animals are exhibited in Fort Bearizona, a beautiful 20 acre walk-thru area, along winding paths which is more of a "zoo" type setting. You'll drive the one way 3 miles loop and admire different species of animals: bears of course, but also bison, goats of the Rocky Mountains, Alaskan sheep, deer, Americans burros, Alaskan wolves and many others. It is obviously forbidden to leave your car.
Nella parte a piedi potrete poi incontrare altri animali e visitare la fattoria didattica "Bearizona Barnyard", una miniera d'acqua che ospita alcuni animali notturni e creature particolari. Considerate almeno 2-3 ore per la visita completa del parco.
Visitors will also walk through Fort Bearizona, located directly after the drive-through portion of the park. In this area, guests leisurely stroll through winding walkways to get an up-close look at the antics of baby and smaller animals on exhibit. Interpretive signage is located throughout for guests to learn more about each animal. There is also the “Bearizona Barnyard” petting zoo, a Mine Shaft. It takes at least 2 to 3 hours to visit Bearizona.
Una visita a Bearizona non può definirsi completa senza aver preso parte ai due tour offerti dal parco. Il primo, e più semplice, è il Wild Ride Bus Tour (10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm), un tour guidato lungo le 3 miglia del "loop" di Fort Bearizona. Il tour è gratuito e vige la regola "first come, first served".
SPECIAL EVENTS AT BEARIZONA WILDLIFE PARK
A visit to Bearizona cannot be considered complete without the two special events offered by the park. The first, and simplest, is the Wild Ride Bus Tour (10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm): this adventure allows guests to hop on the 50-passenger bus, which doesn’t have windows, and take a drive through the park with a Bearizona staff member as their guide. The tour educates guests on Bearizona history as well as fun facts about the animals and the habitats in which they live. This tour is offered free of charge, but it is offered on a first come first serve basis.
Il secondo è il the Birds of Prey Show (11am, 1pm, 3pm), uno show dedicati ai rapaci con spettacoli di "volo libero" e la possibilità di ammirarli davvero da vicino.

The second is the Birds of Prey Show (11am, 1pm, 3pm), which includes "on the fist" demonstrations and dramatic "free flight" shows, all with a narrative on natural history, conservation and interesting facts while entertaining audiences of all ages.

DIABLO BURGER, IL MIGLIOR BURGER DELL'ARIZONA
Prima di intraprendere la scenografica Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Drive, la celeberrima "89A" che collega Flagstaff con Sedona, non potrete mancare l'appuntamento con quello che è semplicemente il "miglior burger dell'intero stato dell'Arizona". Ve ne avevamo già parlato durante il racconto della route 66 e, visto che ci siamo tornati, ribadiamo la bontà del Diablo Burger. Situato nel cuore dei downtown Flagstaff, è un appuntamento immancabile per chi passa dalla principale città del centro-nord dell'Arizona.

Before driving the beautiful Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Drive, the world-famous "89A" that connects Flagstaff with Sedona, you can't miss the "Arizona's best burger". We had already talked about it during the route 66 diary and, since we returned, we must reiterate the Diablo Burger is just amazing. Located in the heart of downtown Flagstaff, it is an unmissable place for those passing through the main city of central Arizona.

L'INCANTO DELLE ROCCE ROSSE - I MIGLIORI 3 TRAIL DI SEDONA
Di Sedona e delle sue splendide bellezze abbiamo già parlato, in parte, Montezuma Castle & Sedona, oggi vogliamo concentrarci su quello che la città da sempre sacra a livello spirituale per i nativi americani, ha da offrire a livello di hike. Dopo tutto, questo è il viaggio della "fatica" e, anche se ci siamo ritrovati a Sedona con pochissime energie nelle gambe, un piccolo ma comunque splendido trail, abbiamo comunque voluto farlo, il Bell Rock Loop Trail. A dir la verità ve ne racconteremo tre di trail, quelli che a parer nostro sono gli imperdibili di Sedona, ma la stanchezza ha fatto sì che ne percorressimo solo uno dei tre. Il Bell Rock Trail appunto.
THE ENCHANTMENT OF THE RED ROCKS - SEDONA'S BEST 3 TRAILS
We've already talked about Sedona and its splendid beauties (Montezuma Castle & Sedona), at this time we want to focus on what the city (which has always been sacred on a spiritual level for Native Americans), has to offer when it comes to hikes. After all, this is the "tiring trip" and even though we are very exhausted, still want to hike at least one of the Sedona's beautiful trails: the Bell Rock Loop Trail. Honestly, we are about to tell about three trails, the ones we believe you shouldn't miss while in Sedona, even if we hiked just one of them.

Per raggiungere il parcheggio del trail dovrete percorrere la 179 in direzione sud, superando anche l'originalissimo negozio di oggettistica Son-Silver-West Galleries. Sedona è casa di artisti e questo è onestamente uno dei negozi più belli tra quelli che abbiamo visto in città. Troverete di tutto e anche oggettistica legati alla non lontana route 66.
To reach the trail's parking lot you will have to drive the 179 to the south: don't miss the original Son-Silver-West Galleries shop. Sedona is home to artists and this is honestly one of the nicest shops we've seen in the city. You will find everything and also objects related to the not distant route 66.
Bell Rock Loop Trail is, honestly, the simplest trail in Sedona. Park the car in one of the two parking lots (north and south, we parked at the Courthouse Vista) and remember to buy the daily ticket at the machine: it allows to park close to the various trailheads. Its name is Red Rock Pass ($5 per day, $15 per week).

Dal parking lot parte un breve sentiero alla volta di Bell Rock. Si può raggiungerne la base oppure percorrere un trail che conduce a tre livelli di altitudine: Lower Bell Rock Trail (facile), Upper Bell Rock Trail (media difficoltà), The Final Ascent (difficile e pericoloso).
A short path that leads to Bell Rock begins right in front of the parking lot. You can reach the base of Bell Rock or follow a trail that leads to three levels of altitude: Lower Bell Rock Trail (easy), Upper Bell Rock Trail (moderate), The Final Ascent (strenous and dangerous).

Bell Rock è una delle formazioni più facilmente riconoscibili di Sedona con la sua sagoma a cupola che non mancherete di notare vicino all'autostrada 179. Alcuni dei percorsi che lo circondano e si avvicinano sono meno distinguibili in quanto i nomi e le lunghezze dei sentieri variano da una fonte all’altra di Internet. I tre trail che compongono l'area di Bell Rock sono Bell Rock Pathway Trail, Rector Connector e Courthouse Butte Trail. La lunghezza totale è di 1,8 miglia.
Bell Rock is one of the most easily recognizable Sedona's formations with its domed silhouette that you will easily notice close to the Highway 179. Some of the hikes that surround it are less distinguishable as trails names and lengthsvary from one source to another on the Internet. The three trails that make up the area of Bell Rock are Bell Rock Pathway Trail, Rector Connector and Courthouse Butte Trail. The total length is 1.8 miles.
Gli altri due "must" che consigliamo sono altrettanto imperdibili. Il primo è Cathedral Rock (1 miglio), un percorso corto ma impegnativo. L'attacco del trail si trova lungo la Back O Beyond Road. Imboccatela e percorretela fino all’area parcheggio sulla sinistra: la riconoscerete subito, perché di fronte si apre lo spettacolo delle altissime torri rocciose della cattedrale, il simbolo del trail. In poco tempo, ma con un po’ di sforzo arriverete di fronte alla Cathedral Rock. Il secondo è Devil's Bridge Trail (4.2 miglia), che vi condurrà direttamente al.. ponte del diavolo. Per arrivarci seguite le indicazioni per il Boynton Canyon Trail, ma dovrete svoltare prima seguendo il cartello marrone Dry Creek Trailhead. Se non avete a disposizione un buon 4x4, lasciate l'auto al parcheggio (Dry Creek Vista), due miglia dopo comincia il vero e proprio trailhead che conduce al Devil's Bridge. Dall'attacco del sentiero al ponte la strada non è lunga, ma l'ultimo tratto è abbastanza impegnativo. Da questo ponte si suicidavano in massa gli schiavi esausti e disperati per sfuggire alla schiavitù.
The other two "musts" we recommend are just as unmissable. The first one is Cathedral Rock (1 mile), a short but challenging hike. The beginning of the trail is located along the Back O Beyond Road. Just follow it till the parking lot on the left: you will recognize the spectacle of the cathedral's towering rock towers, the symbol of the trail. The trail is pretty short but challenging: Cathedral Rock is just 1 mile far from the parking lot. The second one is the Devil's Bridge Trail (4.2 miles), which takes you directly to the... Devil's Bridge. To get there, follow the road that leads to the Boynton Canyon Trail and make a turn when you see the brown sign that says "Dry Creek Trailhead". If you don't have a good 4x4, leave the car at the parking lot (Dry Creek Vista), the actual trailhead that leads to Devil's Bridge begins two miles later. It's a pretty short hike (from the beginning of the trail to the Devil's Bridge), but the last stretch is quite challenging. From this bridge, exhausted and desperate slaves used to commit suicide en masse to escape slavery.
