Esatto, la casa della birra irlandese più famosa e bevuta al mondo, la Guinness, un'autentica religione da 250 anni, sin da quando Arthur Guinness diede il via a quello che in breve tempo divenne un impero. E, a conferma del rispetto che il popolo irlandese nutre per la sua stout d'eccellenza, la città di Dublino ha costruito quello che a tutti gli effetti è il più bel museo sulla birra.

The house of the irish most famous beer most famous, the Guinness beer, an authentic religion for 250 years, since Arthur Guinness started what soon became an empire. COME VISITARE LA GUINNESS STOREHOUSE
La visita alla Guinness Storehouse comincia dal piano terra (dalla forma di enorme bicchiere di birra), dove imparerete a conoscere immediatamente il padre della Guinness, mr Arthur Guinness e noterete la copia del contratto d'affitto del birrificio, stipulato addirittura per 9.000 anni e datato 1759. Il piano terra racconta la storia dei quattro ingredienti della birra, acqua, orzo, luppolo e lievito (e quella della Guinness, di storia, è molto particolare...) e delle 14.3 milioni di pinte che occorrerebbero per  riempire il gigantesco atrio di vetro nel centro dell’edificio.

HOW TO VISIT THE GUINNESS STOREHOUSE
The visit to the Guinness Storehouse starts from the ground floor (in the shape of a huge glass of beer), where you will immediately meet the father of Guinness, mr Arthur Guinness. You'll also notice the copy of the lease of the brewery, dated back to 1759. It was stipulated for 9,000 years.  The ground floor tells the story of the four ingredients of beer: water, barley, hops and yeast (and the history of Guinness is very particular ...) and of the 14.3 million pints that would be needed to fill the gigantic glass atrium in center of the building.

Una sala accoglie gli antichi macchinari della fabbrica: un mulino, un torrefattore, un alambicco e botti giganti in legno. I mastri bottai realizzavano a mano le botti di legno in cui la Guinness veniva trasportata, impilandole una sull’altra fino ad altezze tali che i piloti che le vedevano dall’alto le soprannominarono le “piramidi di Dublino”.

A room houses the old machinery of the factory: a mill, a roaster, a still and giant wooden barrels. Master coopers hand-made the wooden barrels in which Guinness was transported, stacking them so high they were known as the 'Dublin Pyramids' by pilots viewing from overhead. 

Qui potrai vedere come i mastri bottai svolsero un ruolo fondamentale nel preparare la Guinness da trasportare in tutta l’Irlanda e via mare verso 150 Paesi del mondo.

You will notice how the coopers played a vital role in preparing Guinness to be transported throughout Ireland and by sea to 150 countries.

Il secondo piano accoglie un percorso espositivo dedicato alla storia delle campagne pubblicitarie della Guinness. Una delle campagne più interessanti fu realizzata nel 1916, quando si gettarono in mare migliaia di bottiglie, con all'interno dei messaggi. Decine di anni dopo le bottiglie continuavano ad apparire, per la sorpresa di chi le trovava.

The second floor hosts an exhibition dedicated to the history of Guinness advertising campaigns. One of the most interesting campaigns was carried out in 1916, when thousands of bottles were thrown into the sea, with messages inside them. Decades later the bottles continued to appear...

La parte più "divertente" comincia ora, con le sale degustazioni. Avrete ricevuto all'ingresso un buono consumazione e qui avrete la possibilità di "spendere il gettone" (il consiglio, se state visitando il museo con qualcuno, è di conservare un buono per il bar situato all'ultimo piano o ancora per la Guinness Academy). Qui potrete assaggiare diverse tipologie di Guinness e non mancate di prestare attenzione agli orari degli spettacoli. Assistere ad un ballo irlandese è un must quando si visita la Guinness Storehouse.

The "funniest" part  starts now, with the tasting rooms. Dont' forget that a free drink is include in your ticket price. And this could be the right time to get it (if you're visiting the museum with someone els, save one "free drink" for the bar at the top floor of for the Guinness Academy). Here you can taste different types of Guinness and be sure to pay attention to the show schedules. Attending an Irish dance is a must when visiting the Guinness Storehouse.

Al terzo piano, sicuramente il "più interattivo" dei quattro che compongono la Guinness Storehouse, potrete dimostrare le vostre conoscenze sull'alcool con vari giochi interattivi. Al quarto piano troverete la Guinness Academy, dove...sarete voi i barman! Imparerete a versare una guinness perfetta e riceverai dall’Accademia un certificato di spillatore.

On the third floor, certainly the "most interactive" of the four that make up the Guinness Storehouse, you can demonstrate your knowledge of alcohol with various interactive games. On the fourth floor you will find the Guinness Academy, where ... you will be the bartender! You'll learn to pour your own perfect pint of Guinness. Enjoy the pint you crafted yourself and receive a certificate from the academy.

Il quinto ed ultimo piano ospita i ristoranti Guinness, in cui potrai assaggiare alcuni dei tradizionali piatti legati alla birra Guinness, come ad esempio lo stufato irlandese (fatto ovviamente con la birra) e visitare l’Arthur’s Bar per goderti una pinta ascoltando musica irlandese tradizionale suonata dal vivo. La visita si conclude sulla terrazza dell'edificio, nel Gravity Bar, un luogo gradevole da cui si può godere di ottime viste della città, sorseggiando una birra (una consumazione è inclusa nel prezzo del biglietto, se non avrete già speso il "gettone" prima).

The fifth and last floor is home to the restaurants where you can try some of traditional Guinness dishes such is the Guinness Irish stew, and visit Arthur’s Bar to enjoy a pint and some live musicians playing traditional Irish music. The visit ends on the terrace of the building, in the Gravity Bar, a pleasant place from which you can enjoy excellent views of the city, while sipping a beer (if you haven't been using it,do it now. Don't forget that a free drink is included in the ticket price).

LE CURIOSITA' DEL MONDO GUINNESS
L'arpa, ovvero il simbolo dell'Irlanda, è parte integrante del marchio Guinness. Quando il governo decise di utilizzarla come simbolo nazionale, dovette posizionarla al rovescio. Anche il libro Record Guinness ha un fortissimo legame con la birra Guinness. E' infatti legato alla storia di questo birrificio, poiché ebbe inizio con una disputa su quale uccello volava più rapido.

ODDITIES OF THE GUINNESS WORLD
The harp, the symbol of Ireland, is an integral part of the Guinness brand. When the government decided to use it as a national symbol, it had to be positioned upside down. Even the book Guinness Record has a very strong connection with Guinness beer. It is in fact linked to the history of this brewery, since it began with a dispute over which bird flew faster.

ORARI - La Guinness Storehouse è aperta tutti i giorni della settimana dalle 9.30 alle 19. L'ultimo ingresso avviene alle 17. Nei mesi di luglio ed agosto apre alle 9 e chiude alle ore 20 (ultimo ingresso alle 18). Chiuso il 24, il 25 ed il 26 dicembre
PREZZI - 18.50 euro per gli adulti, 16 per i ragazzi tra i 13 ed i 17 anni. Gratis per i bambini sotto i 13 anni.
AUDIOGUIDA - L'audioguida, anche in italiano (completa e ben fatta), non è compresa nel prezzo. E' però acquistabile con l'aggiunta di solo 1 euro.

OPENING HOURS - The Guinness Storehouse is open every day of the week from 9.30 am to 7 pm. The last admission is at 5pm. In July and August it opens at 9am and closes at 8pm (last admission at 6pm). Closed on December 24th, 25th and 26th

PRICES - 18.50 euros for adults, 16 for children (13-17 years). Children under 13 years are free.

AUDIO GUIDE - The audio guide is not included in the ticket price. However, it can be purchased with the addition of just 1 euro.
