2012 trip: New York City, Washington D.C. and Florida (day 3, New York City)

E' il giorno di Central Park, il polmone verde della grande mela. Lungo in tragitto ci fermiamo all'imponente sede dell'ONU.

It's the Central Park day. Along the route we stop at the headquarters of the UN.

anche se per visitarlo crediamo servano dei permessi speciali.

although we believe that without a special permission, you can't visit it.

L'ale la prende "sul ridere" e coinvolge nello show la povera Chiara...

Ale acts like it's a joke and also Chiara is involved in that show...

Appena entrati in Central Park ci imbattiamo subito in un gruppo di persone attorno ad una sorta di cerchio sull'asfalto. Capiamo immediatamente di essere nei pressi dello Strawberry Field Memorial, dedicato al grande John Lennon. Uno dei simboli del parco.

Entering central park we see a lot of people around a big circle: we discover that we are at the Strawberry field Memorial, dedicated to John Lennon. One of the symbols of the park. 

Ah definirlo semplicemente parco sarebbe quasi riduttivo, è francamente incredibile come possa esistere Central Park, un'oasi vera e propria, in mezzo ai grattacieli e al caos di Manhattan.

Call it simply park would be almost an understatement, it's amazing how there can Central Park , an oasis, exists close to the skyline of Manhattan.

Ti dimentichi anche del caldo...

Visitiamo anche una sorta di castello all'interno del polmone verde,

We also visit a sort of Castle in the middle of the park,

e scattiamo qualche foto con Alice..in fondo è come essere nel paese delle meraviglie..

and we take some pictures with Alice, it seems to be in wonderland!

Ah, nel parco è severamente vietato fumare. Altrimenti accade questo...

In the park smoking is not allowed. Otherwise this can happen...

Usciti dal parco, visitiamo prima il Metropolitan Museum Of Art...

Just outside the park there is the Metropolitan Museum of Art...

e poi un paio di università: prima la Juilliard (per chi ama la danza non c'è bisogno di spiegazioni...)

and then two universities: the Juilliard (if you are keen on dance there's no need of explanations)

e poi la storica Columbia University..

and the historical Columbia University...

Camminiamo talmente tanto da arrivare ad un parco che si affaccia sul fiume Hudson: ci rilassiamo una mezz'oretta buona con la vista sul New Jersey.

We walk really a lot. We arrive at a park close to Hudson river: New Jersey is not far...

Conclusa l'escursione giornaliera torniamo sulla quinta strada, proviamo a salire sull'Empire State Building ma, erroraccio, ci facciamo influenzare dal costo (25 dollari a testa) e desistiamo. Proveremo a rifarci quest'estate, ma punteremo al Top of the Rock del Rockfeller Center, ha la vista sia sull'Empire State Building che su Central Park.

At the end of the excursion we come back to 5th avenue. We try to go to the top of Empire State Building but the costs (25 dollars each) stop us. Unforgivable mistake! we will try to repair this summer, but we will go on the Top of the Rock of Rockfeller Center, from there you can see both the Empire State Buinding and Central Park
