Se durante la prima giornata ci siamo concentrati sulle attrazioni legate al lungomare di Dubai, camminando sempre con il naso all'insù abbagliati dal luccicante lusso del gioiello degli Emirati Arabi, nella seconda giornata i nostri principali (e fedeli) compagni di viaggio sono stati i mezzi di trasporto. Dalla metro, sempre efficiente (ma altrettanto piena) ai bus, passando per Uber che in diversi momenti ci ha permesso di risparmiare diverso tempo in un day 2 davvero intenso, che ci ha portato ad ammirare il grattacielo più alto al mondo, una cornice enorme, il centro commerciale più famoso di tutto il Medioriente e due giardini davvero stupendi. Il tutto condito da una camminata nella Dubai più vera, la "old town" , una tappa che non può mancare nell'itinerario di due giorni alla scoperta di Dubai...
While on the first day we focused on attractions along Dubai's waterfront, walking with our noses in the air, dazzled by the glittering luxury of the jewel of the United Arab Emirates, on the second day our main (and faithful) travel companions were the means of transport. From the ever-efficient (but equally crowded) metro to buses, not to mention Uber, which saved us a lot of time on a truly intense day 2. We were able to admire the world's tallest skyscraper, an enormous frame, the most famous shopping mall in the Middle East, and two truly beautiful gardens. All this was seasoned with a walk through the real Dubai, the “old town,” a stop that cannot be missed on a two-day itinerary to discover Dubai...

BURJ KHALIFA E DUBAI FOUNTAIN. TUTTA DUBAI IN UN GRATTACIELO
Dubai è una città che letteralmente non smette di stupire. Se cercate un record, lo trovate qua. Se cercate un qualcosa di fino a ieri impensabile, ovviamente lo trovate qua. Ma c'è un luogo nel cuore del downtown della città dove Dubai si è davvero superata. Parliamo del Burj Khalifa, il grattacielo più alto al mondo con i suoi 828 metri. Ed è proprio da qui che partiamo, dal grattacielo dei record, dove il visitatore potrà concedersi il lusso di pranzare o cenare a 442 metri di altezza, salire sull'ascensore più veloce in assoluto, godersi di una clamorosa vista su Dubai ed il suo downtown dalla più alta terrazza panoramica al mondo e molto altro.

We are talking about the Burj Khalifa, the tallest skyscraper in the world at 828 meters. Già, perchè i record non terminano qui. Affatto. Il Burj Khalifa ospita, infatti, anche la moschea e la piscina situata più in alto in assoluto nel mondo, l'ennesimo record di un grattacielo che definire maestoso è quasi riduttivo. E che va visto al mattino, con una luce diversa, e poi la sera, quando s'illumina e cambia costantemente colore.

E farlo dalle bellissime fontane regala quel tocco di romantica magia che non guasta mai. Già, perchè le Dubai Fountain, situate proprio sotto il Burj Khalifa non solo sono le fontane danzanti più grandi al mondo (c'erano dubbi?) superando quelle del Bellagio di Las Vegas, ma ogni mezz'ora, la sera (dalle 19 alle 23) regalano musica, colori e giochi d'acqua che lasciano davvero a bocca aperta chiunque passi da queste parti. Le Dubai fountain sono state progettate da Alex Salamoun, sono lunghe 275 (!) metri d i suoi getti d’acqua possono raggiungere un’altezza di 150 metri. Non lontano dalle fontane, non perdetevi l'installazione artistica di Jorge Marin chiamata Wings of Mexico, due ali di metallo a grandezza naturale poste sopra una piattaforma a gradoni. Se state cercando il miglior view point sul Burj Khalifa, eccolo qui!

Inaugurato nel 2010, il suo design incarna la struttura lirica e ben proporzionata dell'Hymenocallisor SpiderLily, un fiore del deserto degli Emirati. La decisione di costruire un grattacielo così incredibile si è basata sulla scelta del governo di Dubai di diversificare l’economia della città, in una transizione dal petrolio ai servizi e al turismo che perdura ancora oggi. Il grattacielo è stato progettato dallo studio di architettura SOM, responsabile di altri progetti di fama mondiale quali la Willis Tower di Chicago e il nuovo World Trade Center di New York. E per chi volesse di più, esiste la possibilità di acquistare il biglietto "Gold" che consente l'accesso al 148esimo piano, oltre a godere di altri privilegi come la degustazione di caffè e dolci arabi. Per chi sarà "accontentato" del 124esimo piano (452 metri di altitudine) raggiungendo l'observation deck chiamato At The Top, vivrà l'esperienza di trovarsi nella piattaforma di osservazione più alta al mondo sino al 2011, un primato tolto dalla Canton Tower di Guanzhou e poi ripreso qualche anno dopo dallo stesso Burj Khalifa, quando aprì la terrazza Burj Khalifa Sky al 148esimo piano (555 metri di altitudine).

Il nostro prossimo stop è Dubai Frame, la "porta d'ingresso" nella Old Town. Durante il tragitto, tuttavia, potrete fermarvi al Museo del Futuro, per ammirarne la conformazione decisamente scenografica e, perche nò, anche visitare la struttura espositiva nata per divulgare idee, prodotti e servizi innovativi e futuristici. Tra le cose da vedere in due giorni a Dubai non può invece mancare la Dubai Frame, una delle ultime attrazioni di Dubai.
DUBAI FRAME, THE GATEWAY TO THE OLD TOWN
From Burj Khalifa, cross part of the Old Town and reach the red metro line, which cuts through the city of Dubai from north to south. Our next stop is Dubai Frame, the “gateway” to the Old Town. Questo enorme monumento, alto ben 150 metri, possiede la forma di una enorme cornice dorata, e consente a chi decide di salire fino al 48° piano di vedere la città da una piattaforma di osservazione davvero privilegiata. Da qui non vi mancherà molto per raggiungere (se volete), la città vecchia ed in particolare il Al Fahidi Historical District, dove troverai case ed edifici tradizionali, mostre e musei; oltre al forte Al Fahidi, ciò che rimane del vecchio quartiere persiano, un tempo abitato da pescatori e mercanti, ma che ora è stato interamente ristrutturato a fini conservativi nel 2005 e può essere tranquillamente girato a piedi.
This enormous monument, standing 150 meters tall, is shaped like a huge golden frame and allows those who decide to climb up to the 48th floor to see the city from a truly privileged observation deck. From here, if you wish, you can easily reach the old town and, in particular, the Al Fahidi Historical District, full of traditional houses and buildings, exhibitions, and museums, as well as Al Fahidi Fort, the remains of the old Persian quarter, once inhabited by fishermen and merchants, but now it's completely renovated for conservation purposes in 2005 and can be easily explored on foot.
DUBAI MIRACLE GARDEN, UN'AUTENTICA OASI NEL DESERTO
Ancora metro rossa, ma stavolta il viaggio è parecchio lungo (un'ora). Tanto ci vuole per tornare a sud e raggiungere il Il Mall of the Emirates (fermata Mall of The Emirates Metro Station) che, anche se non siete interessati allo shopping, val davvero la pena visitare. E poi è da qui che partono i bus verso la nostra meta successiva, gli stupendi Dubai Miracle Garden. Oltre 600 negozi e 100 tra bar e ristoranti lo rendono il centro commerciale più famoso di Dubai, ma è per lo Ski Dubai che il Mall of The Emirates è diventato famoso in tutto il mondo. Parliamo, infatti, di un parco divertimenti a tema invernale (primo nel Medioriente) che comprende una pista di sci lunga 400 metri, due impianti di risalita, uno snow park, una pista da slittino e, per non farsi mancare nulla, anche una colonia di pinguini. Proprio fuori il Mall of the Emirates troverete la stazione dei bus. Salite a bordo del F365 che in 45 minuti buoni vi condurrà lontano dal glamour dei grattacieli e delle luci di Dubai. E' qui, a ridosso del deserto, che è situato il Dubai Miracle Garden (https://www.dubaimiraclegarden.com/), una vera e propria oasi naturale in mezzo al deserto.
DUBAI MIRACLE GARDEN, A TRUE OASIS IN THE DESERT
Again, we take the red metro, but this time the journey is quite long (one hour). It takes that long to reach the south and then the Mall of the Emirates (Mall of The Emirates Metro Station) which, even if you are not interested in shopping, is really worth visiting. This is also where the buses leave for our next destination, the beautiful Dubai Miracle Garden. Over 600 shops and 100 bars and restaurants make it the most famous shopping center in Dubai, but it is Ski Dubai that has made the Mall of The Emirates famous worldwide. This is a winter-themed amusement park (the first in the Middle East) that includes a 400-meter-long ski slope, two ski lifts, a snow park, a toboggan run, and in order not to miss anything, a colony of penguins. The bus station is located just outside the Mall of the Emirates. Hop on the F365 bus, which will take you away from the glamour of Dubai's skyscrapers and lights in just 45 minutes. Here, close to the desert, is the Dubai Miracle Garden (https://www.dubaimiraclegarden.com/), a true natural oasis in the middle of the desert.

Ormai diamo per scontato che tutto a Dubai sia "più grande" e "maestoso", ma qui ancora una volta si raggiungono vette impensabili. Parliamo, infatti del giardino naturale più grande al mondo con oltre 15 milioni (!) di fiori organizzati per realizzare sculture davvero maestose. Da Aladdin ai puffi, passando per l'iconico aereo della Emirates Airlines, il fiore all'occhiello di un luogo davvero adatto a tutti, grandi e piccoli.
By now, we take it for granted that everything in Dubai is “bigger” and “grander,” but here, once again, unimaginable heights are reached. We are talking about the largest natural garden in the world, with over 15 million (!) flowers arranged to create truly majestic sculptures. From Aladdin to the Smurfs, passing by the iconic Emirates Airlines plane, which is the pride and joy of a place that is truly suitable for everyone.

The flowers are kept in perfect health by reusing wastewater through drip irrigation, a method that slowly supplies water to plants through a network system which, minimizing water use, waters a small area of soil near the flower either constantly or intermittently. In total, over 750,000 liters of water are used every day.
