Se nella prima giornata a Singapore ci siamo relativamente riposati, cercando di acclimatarsi ad una temperatura a cui non è così semplice abituarsi (caldo e umidità alle stelle), nella seconda invece i ritmi saranno decisamente più incessanti, perchè di cose da fare nella "Città del Leone" ce ne sono tantissime ed i giorni a disposizione sono solamente tre. Lasceremo i vari quartieri periferici, tutti stupendi, per il day 3, oggi invece ci concentreremo nuovamente su Marina Bay, visitando la parte più turistica che volutamente avevamo tralasciato durante il day 1. L'attrazione principale è il The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, l'enorme centro commerciale che domina la marina e, sfruttando la (ahinoi) consueta pioggia pomeridiana (tipica durante la "stagione delle piogge", l'abbiamo praticamente visitato interamente, senza farci mancare nessuna delle tante attrazioni che animano quello che a tutti gli effetti è uno dei fiori all'occhiello di tutta Singapore. Ma, lo sapete, per noi non esistono soltanto i quartieri turistici. Ci piace, infatti, scoprire gli angoli più nascosti ed interagire con la gente del posto. Motivo per cui l'intera mattinata l'abbiamo spesa una decina di chilometri abbondante a nord del centro città, all'interno della stupenda MacRitchie Reservoir, un'area naturale incontaminata che ci ha sorpreso al punto tale che, nonostante non sia così conosciuta tra i turisti, non solo ci sentiamo di consigliarla, ma la inseriamo della "top 5" tra le cose da fare a Singapore...
While we took it slow during the first day in Singapore, trying to acclimatize to temperatures that are not so easy to get used to (extreme heat and humidity), the pace will be much more relentless on the second day, because there are so many things to do in the “Lion City” and we only have three days to spend in this beatiful city. So, we'll leave the various suburbs, all of which are so beautiful, for day 3. Today, we will be focusing again on Marina Bay, visiting the most touristy part that we deliberately left out on day 1. The main attraction of the day is The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, the huge shopping center that dominates the marina. Taking advantage of the (alas) usual afternoon rain (typical during the “rainy season”), we visited practically the entire mall, making sure not to miss any of the many attractions that enliven what is, to all intents and purposes, one of the jewels in the crown of Singapore. But, you know, for us is not only the tourist area. We actually enjoy discovering the most hidden corners and interacting with the locals. That's why we spent the entire morning a good ten kilometers north of the city center, in the beautiful MacRitchie Reservoir, an unspoiled natural area that surprised us so much. Even though it's not well known among tourists, we totally recommend it and we've included it in our “top 5” things to do in Singapore...
TREE TOP WALK, TRA PONTI SOSPESI E... MACACHI
Quando nei vari motori di ricerca scriverete "cosa vedere a Singapore", molto difficilmente vi comparirà questo luogo naturale a nord (circa 10) del centro città. Eppure, almeno secondo noi, tra i luoghi da non perdere a Singapore in tre giorni non dovrebbe mai mancare la visita alla MacRitchie Reservoir, una tra le più affascinanti giungle del paese, famoso per ospitare il Tree Top Walk, un ponte sospeso che sovrasta la riserva e regala viste davvero notevoli. Ma andiamo con ordine. Come raggiungere il Tree Top Walk? Noi, da chinatow, abbiamo preso la metro (linea TE, colore marrone) e siamo scesi a Bright Hill, distante poco meno di un chilometro dall'entrata della riserva (ingresso gratuito, l'ultimo accesso al ponte sospeso è alle 16.45). Una volta raggiunto il punto di accesso alla giungla, potrete davvero sbizzarrirvi perchè sono tantisismi i sentieri che si diramano attraverso la riserva e, se avrete tempo, potrete percorrere gli interi 15 km del MacRitchie Reservoir and Tree Top Walk Loop, un sentiero che non solo vi porterà a raggiungere il bellissimo ponte sospeso, ma vi porterà nel cuore della riserva circumnavigando l'Upper Peirce Reservoir. L'ultima parte di questo tragitto costeggerà l'acqua e l'aspetto scenografico del sentiero cambia completamente.
TREE TOP WALK, BETWEEN SUSPENSION BRIDGES AND... MACAQUES
When you type “what to see in Singapore” into various search engines, this natural location north (about 10 km) of the city center is unlikely to appear. Yet, at least in our opinion, among the places not to be missed in Singapore in three days, a visit to MacRitchie Reservoir, one of the most fascinating jungles in the country, famous for hosting the Tree Top Walk, a suspension bridge overlooking the reserve and offering truly remarkable views, should never be missed. But let's take it one step at a time. How do you get to the Tree Top Walk? From Chinatown, we took the metro (TE line, brown color) and got off at Bright Hill, not too far from the entrance to the reserve (free admission, last access to the suspension bridge is at 4:45 p.m.). Once at the entrance, you can really indulge yourself because there are so many trails branching off through the reserve and, if you have enough time, walk the entire 15 km of the MacRitchie Reservoir and Tree Top Walk Loop, a trail that will not only take hikers to the beautiful suspension bridge but also into the heart of the reserve, circumnavigating the Upper Peirce Reservoir. The last part of this route runs alongside the water and the scenic aspect of the trail completely changes.

Se siete però, come noi, a corto di tempo, il consiglio è quello di percorrerne solamente una parte. Come? Dal parcheggio del Windsor Nature Park, che la principale porta d'accesso al parco, seguite le indicazioni per il Tree Top Walk e, se volete, prima di cominciare il vero e proprio trail, non perdetevi i due sentieri circolari che troverete nella parte iniziale, come ad esempio l’ottimo Hanguana Trail, che conduce in un’amena boscaglia ricca di piante hanguana e poi il Venus Loop, che vi farà entrare in contatto con i numerosi macachi dalla lunga coda (long-tailed macaques). Se siete qui per ammirare i macachi, non preoccupatevi. Ne troverete tantissimi lugo i sentieri che conducono al Tree Top Walk: i principali sono lo Squirrel Trail ed il Drongo Trail, che sfruttando comode passerelle sopraelevate, vi condurranno nel cuore della riserva, mentre i macachi vi osserveranno tra i rami degli imponenti alberi.
However, if, just like us, you are short on time, we recommend only hiking part of it. How? From the Windsor Nature Park car park, which is the main entrance to the park, follow the signs for the Tree Top Walk and, if you like, before starting the actual trail, don't miss the two circular paths at the very beginning, such as the excellent Hanguana Trail, which leads to a pleasant bush rich in hanguana plants, and the Venus Loop, which will bring you into close contact with numerous long-tailed macaques. If you are here to admire the macaques, don't worry. You will find plenty of them along the trails leading to the Tree Top Walk: the main ones are the Squirrel Trail and the Drongo Trail, which, thanks to convenient elevated walkways, will take hikers into the heart of the reserve, while the macaques watch you from the branches of the imposing trees.
Raggiungerete l'ingresso del Tree Top Walk dopo circa un'ora (3 km) di camminata, durante la quale incrocerete pochissimi turisti e moltisse famiglie di "locals". Poco prima dell'entrata troverete anche la Ranger Station con all'interno i servizi igienici, fontanelle per riempire le borracce con acqua potabile ed un negozio di souvenir/minimarket. L'accesso al Tree Top Walk è gratuito, come ogni attività nella riserva, ma il percorso è one way (sola andata). Si accede al ponte da un lato e, una volta superato, si prosegue dall'altro seguendo il sentiero, senza la possibilità di tornare indietro. L'esperienza sul ponte è stata molto affascinante, grazie soprattutto alla presenza dei macachi che da ormai moltissimo tempo chiamano il Tee Top Walk "casa", nel vero senso della parola.
You will reach the entrance to the Tree Top Walk after about an hour (3 km) of walking, during which you will encounter very few tourists and many local families. Just before the entrance, do not miss the Ranger Station with restrooms, drinking fountains to fill your water bottles, and a souvenir shop/mini-market. Access to the Tree Top Walk is free of charge, as are all the activities in the reserve, but do not forget that the trail now is one-way. You access the bridge from one side and, once you have crossed it, you continue on the other side along the path, with no possibility of turning back. The experience on the bridge was very fascinating, thanks above all to the presence of the macaques that have long called the Tree Top Walk their home, in the true sense of the word.

E con il loro "benestare" abbiamo proseguito verso l'altro lato e da qui abbiamo seguito nuovamente il sentiero che attraversa il Tempinis Hut, il Medang Hut e il Macaranga Hut ed in circa 15 minuti vi condurrà ad un importante bivio. Noi, che eravamo a corto di tempo, abbiamo scelto di svoltare a sinistra e tornare verso il parcheggio seguendo il trail percorso all'andata, se girerete invece a destra completerete i 15 km che condurranno invece al al Jelutong Tower e poi verso la Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Un consiglio. Se camminare per 5-6 km non si spaventa, non perdetevi questa esperienza della durata di circa 3, una delle grandi sorprese del viaggio e sicuramente tra le cose da vedere a Singapore in tre giorni.
With their "approval", we continued to the other side and from there we followed the trail again, passing through Tempinis Hut, Medang Hut, and Macaranga Hut. In about 15 minutes, this trail will take hikers to an important junction. As we were short on time, we chose to turn left and follow the path we hiked on our way to the suspension bridge. This one will bring us back to parking lot. If you turn right, you will complete the 15 km trail to Jelutong Tower and then to the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. A word of advice. If walking 5-6 km doesn't scare you, don't miss this experience, which lasts about 3 hours. It is one of the great surprises of the trip and definitely one of the things to see in Singapore in three days.

Lasciata la stupenda riserva naturale MacRitchie, è tempo di tornare verso il centro di Singapore ed in particolare verso il vero fulcro di Marina Bay, il The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, situato sotto l'hotel più famoso di tutta Singapore, il Marina Bay Sands Resort, un grattacielo dal design unico che include al suo interno hotel, casinò, centro commerciale, vari musei, teatri, ristoranti e soprattutto la spettacolare Infinity Pool che tuttavia non è accessibile se non si alloggia nella struttura. The Shoppes è uno dei centri commerciali più imponenti del mondo e le sue lussuose strutture si estendono su oltre 90.000 metri quadrati, ospitando quasi 270 negozi e ristoranti. Soprattutto quando piove (e a Singapore piove spesso...), il centro commerciale diventa fedele compagno dei visitatori, offrendo loro molteplici opportunità di svago.
THE SHOPPES AT MARINA BAY SANDS, A PARADISE FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN
Leaving the beautiful MacRitchie Nature Reserve behind, it's time to head back to downtown Singapore and, in particular, to the true heart of Marina Bay: The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, located beneath Singapore's most famous hotel, the Marina Bay Sands Resort, a uniquely designed skyscraper that includes a hotel, a casino, a shopping center, various museums, theaters, restaurants, and above all, the amazing Infinity Pool, which is not accessible unless you are staying at the resort. The Shoppes is one of the most impressive shopping centers in the world, with its luxurious facilities covering over 90,000 square meters and housing nearly 270 stores and restaurants. Especially when it rains (and it rains often in Singapore...), the shopping center becomes a faithful companion to visitors, offering them many opportunities for entertainment.

Occasioni che noi abbiamo colto al volo, partendo dalla romantica esperienza del Sampan Ride (15 dollari di Singapore, circa 10 euro), gondole che attraversano una parte del The Shoppes. Soprattutto se viaggiare con i bambini al seguito, l'esperienza attraverso il colorato passato di Singapore fino al suo scintillante presente, a bordo di una barca Sampan ispirata alle piccole imbarcazioni di legno che un tempo riempivano il fiume Singapore al culmine della sua attività commerciale.
We jumped at the chance to experience the romantic Sampan Ride (15 Singapore dollars, about 10 euros), gondolas that cross part of The Shoppes. Especially if you are traveling with children, the experience takes you through Singapore's colorful past to its sparkling present, aboard a Sampan boat inspired by the small wooden boats that once filled the Singapore River at the peak of its commercial activity.

In pochi minuti raggiungerete il Rain Oculus, un'installazione artistica eco-compatibile composta da una vasca in acrilico larga 22 metri che raccoglie l'acqua piovana che riempie il canale. E, se sarete fortunati, potrete ammirare da posizione privilegiata la cascata d'acqua che si forma ogni ora: ben 22.000 litri d'acqua al minuto vengono rilasciati da un lucernario situato due piani più in alto.
In just a few minutes, you will reach the Rain Oculus, an eco-friendly art installation consisting of a 22-meter-wide acrylic tank that collects rainwater that fills the canal. And, if you are lucky enough, you will be able to admire the waterfall that forms every hour from a privileged position: 22,000 liters of water per minute are released from a skylight located two floors above.
A due passi dal Sampan Ride, sempre all'interno del centro commerciale, verrete incuriositi dalle luci provenienti dal Digital Light Canvas by Teamlab (10 dollari di Singapore, circa 6.50 euro), un paradiso di luce e colori, dove fiori esotici sbocciano magicamente, enormi carpe koi nuotano al tuo fianco e ogni tipo di animale fa capolino per salutarti. Eravamo gli unici adulti, in mezzo a molti bambini, eppure ci siamo divertiti moltissimo tornando per qualche minuto anche noi... bambini, appunto!
A stone's throw from Sampan Ride, still inside the shopping center, you'll be intrigued by the lights coming from the Digital Light Canvas by Teamlab (10 Singapore dollars, about 6.50 euros), a paradise of light and color, where exotic flowers bloom magically, huge koi carp swim alongside you, and all kinds of animals peek out to greet you. We were the only adults among many children, yet we had a great time turning into children for a little time.
The Digital Light By Canvas experience highlights the fragile balance of nature, reminding us that our every action has an impact on our planet's biodiversity. It allows visitors to transform their imagination into living art within a vibrant digital jungle, rich in endangered species listed on the IUCN Red List. How? Take a sheet of paper depicting one of the above-mentioned species and color it as you like, then hand it to one of the operators and in a few seconds you will see... it comes to life and you can follow it through the jungle. My little red butterfly was truly beautiful!

We can't access the Infinity Pool, but we can climb to the top of the skyscraper (56th and 57th floors) to the SkyPark Observation Deck (S$35, about €23) to admire the whole of Singapore from above. Outside The Shoppe at Marina Bay Sands, you will find one of the most beautiful museums in all of Asia, the Art Science Museum (tickets starting at 41 Singapore dollars, about 27 euros), one of the main things to do in three days in Singapore. Opened in 2011, it is one of Singapore's main cultural centers and offers an innovative combination of the worlds of art and science. Visitors are immediately struck by the museum's exterior, with its sleek, futuristic design reminiscent of a lotus flower with open petals. This is where you will most likely take the cover photo of your trip, with the water lilies that populate the adjacent pond, the waters of the bay, and the skyline in the background. It's hard to do better than that...

All'interno troverete una superficie di 6.000 mq dove sono organizzati 21 spazi espositivi. Le esposizioni sono estremamente curate grazie anche all'utilizzo di espedienti d'impatto quali scale fluttuanti e percorsi modellati da luci e immagini in movimento.
Inside, you will find an area of 6,000 square meters where 21 exhibition spaces are organized. The exhibitions are extremely well curated, thanks in part to the use of striking devices such as floating stairs and paths modeled by lights and moving images.
Le esposizioni variano continuamente e quando l'abbiamo visitato noi (dicembre 2025), il tema era "Another World is possible", una mostra sul futuro che esplora la pratica della costruzione di nuovi mondi attraverso il cinema, l'architettura, il design e la narrativa speculativa, riflettendo un approccio tipicamente singaporiano al futuro, caratterizzato da una visione a lungo termine, pragmatismo ambientale ed etica della responsabilità collettiva.
The exhibitions change constantly, and when we visited the ArtScience Museum (December 2025), the theme was “Another World is Possible,” an exhibition on the future, exploring the practice of world-building across cinema, architecture, design, and speculative fiction, reflecting a distinctly Singaporean approach to the future, one shaped by long-term thinking, environmental pragmatism, and an ethic of collective responsibility.
In contrasto con il tono distopico comune nella cultura popolare occidentale, Singapore considera, infatti, il futuro come qualcosa da progettare, discutere e costruire attivamente. E in questo museo decisamente interattivo e futuristico, non ci si annoia davvero mai. Ogni sala, infatti, è diversa dall'altra e, mentre da una parte vi perderete tra le luci, dall'altra potrete costruire aeroplanini di carta e farli volare il più lontano possibile.
In contrast to the dystopian tone common in Western popular culture, Singapore treats the future as something to be designed, debated, and actively constructed. And in this decidedly interactive and futuristic museum, you'll never get bored. Each room is different from the next, and while you'll lose yourself in the lights in one room, in another you can build paper airplanes and fly them as far as possible.
"Another World Is Possible", che celebra il 60esimo anniversario della giovanissima Singapore, è curata congiuntamente dall'ArtScience Museum e da Liam Young. L'accesso al museo, come del resto anche a tutte le altre attrazioni, è un pochino "overpriced", ma come abbiamo accennato all'inizio del primo post dedicato alla "Città del Leone", tutto qui è parecchio costoso a differenza di quanto accada nelle altre nazioni del sud est asiatico.
"Another World Is Possible", celebrating the 60th anniversary of the young nation of Singapore, is co-curated jointly by the ArtScience Museum and Liam Young. Admission to the museum, as with all other attractions, is a little overpriced, but as we mentioned at the beginning of our first post dedicated to the “Lion City,” everything here is quite expensive, unlike in other Southeast Asian countries.
LA NATURA E LE LUCI DEL GARDENS BY THE BAY
Siamo in conclusione di giornata e, mentre le luci della sera calano su Singapore ci spostiamo qualche centinaio di metri a sud-est dalla zona di Marina Bay Sands, dove sorgono i bellissimi Gardens By The Bay, letteralmente i giardini della baia. Qui si può tranquillamente spendere anche mezza giornata, all'interno di quella che è a tutti gli effetti una delle attrazioni più popolari di tutta Singapore, 101 ettari ricchi di piante provenienti da tutto il mondo e strutture incredibili tra cui spiccano serre di vetro ed alberi enormi. Noi, avendo le giornate già piene di luoghi imperdibili (ricordatevi del famoso "quarto giorno", indispensabile se vorrete davvero visitare Singapore con tutta calma), ci siamo accontentati della parte esterna (gratuita), che alla sera regala comunque uno spettacolo di luci davvero notevole. Se doveste avere più tempo a disposizione per ammirare questi giardini futuristici, potrete acquistare il ticket che consente di passeggiare sull'OCBC Skywalk (14 dollari, 9 euro), una passerella che attraversa tutti i giardini dall'alto. Al suo interno si trovano varie specie di piante, ma soprattutto una delle attrattive più iconiche della città, ovvero i Supertree Grove, 18 giganti di altezza compresa tra i 25 e i 50 metri, che contribuiscono non solo creare un'atmosfera da fiaba, ma accolgono anche un rigoglioso giardino verticale e dei pannelli solari nella parte superiore della struttura.
THE NATURE AND LIGHTS OF GARDENS BY THE BAY
As the day draws to a close and the evening lights go down on Singapore, we move a few hundred meters southeast of the Marina Bay Sands area to the beautiful Gardens By The Bay. Here, you can easily spend half a day in what is effectively one of the most popular attractions in all of Singapore, 101 hectares rich in plants from all over the world and incredible structures, including glass greenhouses and enormous trees. As our days here in Singapore are already full of unmissable sights (remember the famous “fourth day,” which is essential if you really want to visit the "Lion City" at a leisurely pace), we stuck to the outdoor area (free of charge), which still offers a truly remarkable light show in the evening. If you have more time to admire these futuristic gardens, you can buy a ticket that allows you to walk on the OCBC Skywalk ($14, €9), a walkway that crosses all the gardens from above. Inside, there are various species of plants, but above all one of the city's most iconic attractions, the Supertree Grove, 18 giants ranging in height from 25 to 50 meters, which not only create a fairytale atmosphere but also house a lush vertical garden and solar panels at the top of the structure.

Le due strutture più ampie dei Gardens by the Bay sono le serre, due gigantesche cupole formate da migliaia di pannelli di vetro, chiamate Cloud Forest e Flower Dome (biglietti a partire da 46 dollari). La Cloud Forest si sviluppa intorno a una montagna artificiale di 35 metri d'altezza, che alberga la cascata artificiale più alta del mondo. Il Flower Dome, invece, è considerato il giardino d'inverno più grande del mondo, con i suoi 12.000 metri quadri di superficie. Al suo interno, troverete specie floreali provenienti da ogni continente. The two largest structures in Gardens by the Bay are the greenhouses, two huge domes made up of thousands of glass panels, called Cloud Forest and Flower Dome (tickets start at $46). The Cloud Forest is built around a 35-meter-high artificial mountain, which is home to the world's tallest artificial waterfall. The Flower Dome, on the other hand, is considered the world's largest winter garden, with an area of 12,000 square meters. Inside, you will find floral species from every continent. As we mentioned, the atmosphere becomes even more magical in the evening, when the Supertrees light up the entire park with the Garden Rhapsody, a colorful light show (at 7:45 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.) that is completely free and will definitely be the fitting end to a wonderful day in this city
