Here we are, this is the last waltz in Seville. Well, it should be said the last flamenco dance. Yes, because in the evening we are going to watch a performance of the world famous sevillian's dance: Ale can't really wait for tonight! First, however, there is still a busy day and a couple of "sacred places" yet to visit. As you may have noticed we are really taking these days very easy, spreading over three days what you could also visit in just two full days. Today we are going to visit Plaza de Toros, located in the city center near the Guadalquivir river and then the Torre del Oro.

La visita avviene accompagnati da una guida che parlerà prima in spagnolo e poi in inglese (l'orario è prestabilito, il nostro è alle 11.30), ma è possibile prenotarla anche con guida in italiano.
You can only visit the arena with the guide, who speaks first in Spanish and then in English (the schedule is predetermined, ours is at 11.30), but you can book it with an Italian guide if you need it.
E' un mondo, quello della Corrida, di cui conoscevamo ben poco ma, forse anche grazie alla guida, ci ha affascinato. Intendiamoci, siamo e saremo sempre contrari a questo genere di maltrattamento dell'animale, ma la visita ci ha permesso di capire a fondo la Spagna ed in particolare Siviglia, e le sue tradizioni.
We knew very little about the corrida's world but, perhaps, thanks to our guide, it fascinated us. Well, we don't like and we'll never like this kind mistreatment, but the visit allowed us to deeply understand Spain, Seville and their traditions.

All'interno dell'arena c'è un museo in cui viene raccontata la storia della corrida a Siviglia. C'è addirittura una cappella dove il torero va a pregare prima di ogni sfida con il toro. Andiamo sicuramente contro tendenza, ma tra tutti i luoghi di Siviglia è quello che ci ha colpito di più. Ma noi non siamo "normali"...
Inside the arena there is a museum that tells the history of bullfighting in Seville. There's even a chapel where the "torero" goes to pray before every match with the bull. We definitely go against the trend, but of all the Seville's places this is what impressed us most. But we are not "normal" ...
Sì, siamo noiosi e ripetitivi. Ma è ora di pranzo e come possiamo resistere ad una tapas di Jamon Serrano ed il solito caprino con marmellata di castagna?
Yes, we are boring and repetitive. But it's lunchtime, and how can we resist? Jamon Serrano and the usual goat cheese with chestnut jam, are we allowed to resist? No we aren't.
E se poi ti hanno anche appena regalato una bevanda al limone (non proprio buonissima), cosa vuoi di più?

Ricaricate le batterie siamo pronti per visitare anche l'ultimo gioiellino sivigliano, la Torre del Oro (ingresso 3 euro, il lunedì è gratuito), una torre militare da cui si controllavano gli accessi alla città tramite il fiume Guadalquivir.
We are now ready to visit the last Seville's jewel, the Torre del Oro (admission € 3, free on monday), a military tower from which sevillians used to control access to the city via the Guadalquivir river.
Il museo navale al suo interno non è imperdibile eccezion fatta per qualche racconto con le tre famose caravelle.
The naval museum inside the tower is not that beautiful except for some stories about the three famous caravels.
La vista invece dalla cima della torre è decisamente affascinante.

Da qui partono inoltre le mini crociere sul fiume Guadalquivir (15 euro).
Do you like cruises? Different companies organize mini cruise on the Guadalquivir not far from the tower.
Si sta avvicinando intanto il clou della spedizione sivigliana, lo spettacolo di Flamenco. Ale sì è decisamente informata prima della partenza, scoprendo che esistono sostanzialmente tre modi per assistere al ballo sivigliano. Il primo, più economico, è controllare i ristoranti che hanno in programma durante la serata anche lo spettacolo. Se invece voleste qualcosa di più esistono i "tablao": in alcuni dei quali si può solamente assistere allo spettacolo, in altri anche cenare. Ma tale cena vi costerà parecchio. Noi scegliamo di assistere solamente allo spettacolo alla "Casa del Flamenco - auditorio Alcantara", prenotandolo già il primo giorno (18 euro a persona). Che dire? Fantastico.
We are approaching the highlight of the journey, the Flamenco show. Ale is well informed about Flamenco, before leaving she did a lot of research and found out that there are basically three ways to watch a Flamenco show. The first one, the cheapest, is to find restaurants which have planned shows during the evening. You won't pay for that show. If you would like something more professional there are the "tablao": in some of which you can just watch the show, in other also dine. But this kind dinner will cost you a fortune. We choose to watch the show at the "Casa del Flamenco - auditorium Alcantara": we've booked in advance (the first day), 18 euros per person. What to say? Fantastic.

"Bene, con la scusa del Flamenco siamo anche riusciti a far sì che arrivassero le 9 di sera. Oggi non ceneremo da soli" è la prima cosa che diciamo usciti dal Tablao, prima ancora di commentare lo spettacolo. Sbagliato! Andiamo però con ordine, perchè nell'ultima serata sivigliana abbiamo veramente dato il meglio di noi stessi. Il solito segugio che di nome fa "Ale" scova un ristorante messicano incredibile (11 di 1992, prezzi come sempre bassissimi), fuori dal centro e quasi nascosto. Si chiama LA CHAPARRITA, distante un buon chilometro e mezzo dal centro. "Qui ci può andare solamente la gente del posto" pensiamo noi, ed infatti avevamo ragione. Però la gente del posto il sabato sera sta guardando le squadre calcistiche di Siviglia. Sono le 21.15, pensiamo di aver camminato fin qui per nulla, temendo fosse chiuso. "E' aperto?" "Sì, sì, entrate. Fino alle 10.30 pensavamo di non aver clienti. Sa com'è, sta giocando il Siviglia". Il locale è piccolo e accogliente, il proprietario, messicano, è fantastico. Ci siamo solo noi nel ristorante e ci coccola. Ci consiglia il menù degustazione, consigliandoci anche la birra messicana.
"Well, thanks to Flamenco dance, we're not going to the restaurant early. It's 9 pm, we won't dine alone!!!". This is the first thing we say while we are leaving the Tablao, even before talking about the show. Wrong! This is the last night in Seville and we've decided to go big: Ale is perfect, as always, and find out an incredible mexican restaurant (number 11 of 1992, very low prices), just outside the downtown and almost hidden. It's called LA CHAPARRITA, far 1,5 km from the center. "We're sure that locals go there" we say, and in fact we'll be right. But locals are watching the football match on saturday night! "Oh, it's 9.15 pm and the restaurant is empty. Maybe it's closed and we walked till here for nothing" we say. "Is it open"? Yes, yes, please come in. You know, Seville is playing now, we won't have customers till 10". The restaurant is small and cozy, the owner, a mexican guy, is fantastic. We recommend the "tasting menu" and even recommend the Mexican beer.
E' spesso lì con noi, ci racconta tantissime cose, di quando gli manchi la mamma (che vive in Messico) e di come gli piacerebbe viaggiare. "Ma, o spendo i soldi per andare dalla mamma, o viaggio" dice. E' la cena migliore di sempre, o almeno tra le prime tre. Sicuramente il miglior messicano di sempre e, fidatevi, noi ne abbiamo provati tanti in giro per il mondo.
He is often with us and tells many stories, for example he tells about how he is missing his mother (she lives in Mexico) and how much he would like to travel around the world. "Well, but i don't have enough money and mum is mum. As soon as i can i visit her" he says. This is the best dinner ever or at least one of the best ever. Definitely the best mexican restaurant ever. Well, trust us, we've tasted a lot of mexican restaurants around the world.
Non può mancare neppure la Tequila, anche se un bicchiere diventa in breve tempo... una bottiglia. L'avventura sivigliana non poteva, davvero, finire meglio. E, p.s., Siviglia è proprio bella!
Being a mexican night, it's tequila time now! Although a glass soon becomes ... a bottle. The sevillian adventure could not actually end up better. And, P.S., Seville is just beautiful!
