In un on the road lungo quella che comunemente viene
In an on the road along what is commonly called the "Real America", one of the stop you can't really miss is Cody, in the heart of the state of Wyoming, the land of cowboys and Indians, with that scent of "America as it once was" that makes this place really magic. Yellowstone National Park is less than 60 miles far (to the west ) that's why Cody has become over the years a genuine crossroads of the Real America.
Coming from South Dakota and just visited the beautiful Badlands, the majestic Mount Rushmore or the Devils Tower (it has become "famous" for the movie "Close Encounters of the third kind" directed by Steven Spielberg, 1977), Cody is a kind of the gateway to Yellowstone.
cinque musei che compongono il Buffalo Bill Center of The West.
The first one who felt in love with this town was William Frederick Cody. Don't you now who William Frederick Cody was? Well, don't worry. The entire world know him as "Buffalo Bill", which essentially was the "architect" of the creation of the city that took his name directly from him. In here, almost everything is connected to one of the most significant figures in the history of the United States: for example the five museums that are located inside the Buffalo Bill Center of The West.

Cody shows its "west side" especially in summer, when tourists come from around the world. Well, if the representation of a shootout between outlaws that takes place every day at 6pm in front of the Irma Saloon is the most classic "trap for tourists" ..

.... it can not be said the same for the CODY NITE RODEO (ticket price: $ 20), the real main attraction of the city and definitely highly recommended in the list of "the things to do and see in Cody".

Every night at 8pm, from june the 1st to august the 31st, the lights come up at the STAMPEDE PARK and the best performers of the various specialties of the rodeo, coming from various parts of the United States, compete in a truly very "west" atmosphere . Yes, the "Brokeback Mountain" west, the movie that in the mid-2000s has brought on maps a state, Wyoming, too often "forgotten" despite its beauty. And Brokeback Mountain did it in an unconventional way, talking about the secret love between two cowboys...

Grasslands and green hills in the background, inside the stadium cowboys seem to speak to their horses before the performance. It's all very, very west, it's all very... "Codyans". The show isn't just an official tournament, but even the level is very high. The presentation "american style" and the national anthem precede an event which makes Cody "the world capital of Rodeo"
state".
Even if you're not an expert or don't like this kind of sport, you'll be charmed by those cowboys who resist on a runaway horse, or even chase and capture the calf. Cowgirls obviously take part in the tournament and it's not surprising. After all Wyoming is not only known as the "Cowboy State", but also as the '' Equality State". The first US women who got the right to vote were precisely the inhabitants of Wyoming.

In chiusura
vincere.
This is the United States of America and a little bit of madness and entertainment is ensured. How? In the end of the show, all the children are called in the field and... become cowboys for a night. They'll try to catch the calf and take a flag. Needless to say, in most cases calf wins...

We left the Rodeo and Cody with two regrets. The first one was that we weren't 12 years old and be "cowboy and cowgirl for a night", the second one is very weird. After we realised that one of the bartender at the stadium was italian (just moved there from Bari), we really would have loved to ask him "What are you foing, in Cody, in the land of cowboys"?
NEW YORK & THE REAL AMERICA".
