It's the end of our trip to Florida. We have still something to talk about: it's the last day and a half, dedicated to relaxation and, as always happens during our travels, influenced by a sort of melancholy for the upcoming homecoming. Let's talk about nice things, for example the morning we spent at the Miami beach.
Ce ne sono tantissime e molte anche bellissime ma, avendo solo una mattinata da spendere al mare, scegliamo sostanzialmente a caso e finiamo in quel di North Beach, a ridosso di un parco. L'acqua non è il massimo e ci sono anche parecchie meduse, ma in spiaggia si sta benissimo. In un amen è mezzogiorno e, dopo il nostro consueto pranzo a base di banane, melone, un mini sacchetto di patatine e l'immancabile Ice...
There are a lot of beautiful beaches: we choose randomly and end up in North Beach, close to a park. Sea water is not the best and there are even a lot of jellyfish, but laying on the beach is always beautiful! It's already noon and, after our usual lunch made by bananas, melon, chips and, of course, "Ice"....
siamo pronti riprendere la nostra macchina e a dirigerci verso Ocean Drive. La percorreremo tutta a piedi, risalendo poi da Collins Avenue sino a raggiungere Lincoln Road in una sorta di giro a "u".
we are ready to get in our car e go straight to Ocean Drive. We will walk along the whole famous road, then going back from Collins Avenue until Lincoln Road (a sort of "u").
Già dalla spiaggia s'intuisce che qui non si dorme letteralmente mai: tra chi fa sport, chi prende sole, chi fa su e giù dal proprio hotel e il mare e chi semplicemente cammina approfittando del fresco provocato dalle palme... beh, ce n'è per tutti i gusti.
From the beach you notice that this is a place that never sleeps: some people are doing sports, people sunbathing, people relaxing in the ocean view hotels and people that just walk taking advantage of the fresh air caused by the palms. You can really find anything..
I locali prenderanno vita in serata, ma i ristoranti sono sostanzialmente pieni ad ogni ora del giorno. Se poi amate la vita notturna, questo è il vostro posto.
Discos come to life in the evening, but restaurants are basically full at any time of day. If you love the night life, this is your place.
Costeggiamo la casa di Versace e tutti gli hotel stile Art Déco che caratterizzano la via più famosa di Miami.
Walking along the street we see Versace's house and a lot of typical Art Déco Hotels that are the symbol of the entire Ocean Drive.
Noi continuiamo a preferire la versione pomeridiana di Ocean Drive anche se, va detto, la moda del "voler apparire" e "dimostrare che..." la si può notare anche di pomeriggio.
We still prefer the "afternoon style" of Ocean Drive instead of the "night style", even if you can still notice the fashion of "i want to show you that..." also in the afternoon.
Risaliamo percorrendo la Collins Avenue che è decisamente più "tranquilla" della "sorellina" Ocean Drive. Attraversiamo anche Espanola Way, una via pedonale che in teoria dovrebbe essere legata, come dice il nome, interamente alla Spagna, ma tutto ciò è vero solo in parte. Se da una parte l'atmosfera è latina, dall'altra quasi tutti i locali sono chiaramente italiani.
Go back along Collins Avenue which is decidedly more "quiet" than the "sister" Ocean Drive. We also cross Espanola Way, a pedestrian street which in theory should be totally linked, as the name implies, to Spain, but this is not so true. While the atmosphere is Latin, in the other hand almost all the restaurants are clearly Italian ...

Lasciata Ocean Drive è già quasi ora di cena e, come sempre, anche oggi abbiamo una tabella di marcia da seguire. Usciamo quindi da South Beach percorrendo un ponte alternativo (a pagamento) che ci regala una vista carinissima su downtown...
Leaving Ocean Drive it's almost dinner time and, as always, we have a plan. So it's time so leave South Beach as well, driving along a new bridge (fee required) that gives us a beautiful view of downtown.
We are going to midtown, one of the less famous areas of Miami but, as for other neighborhoods we have visited, not less beautiful comparing to the other most famous neighborhoods Why Midtown? Just because our goal for dinner is Five Guys and we've chosen this location to enjoy a new neighborhoods, very friendly and modern.
Cosa dire di Five Guys? Che va dritto al numero uno della nostra speciale classifica dei panini americani, superando probabilmente anche quel Shake Shack che pareva inarrivabile.
What about Five Guys? It goes straight to the top of our personal american burgers ranking, probably overtaking even Shake Shack that seemed to be untouchable.
Qualità altissima e la possibilità di farcire il panino come meglio si crede... gratis! Meglio di così non potevamo davvero chiudere il trip culinario...

La giornata successiva, l'ultima, è una lunga attesa verso il nostro volo per l'Italia che partirà in serata. Dopo aver fatto il check out in hotel, quindi, prendiamo la nostra auto e ci dirigiamo verso Sunrise, una trentina di chilometri a nord di Miami. Il sawgrass mill outlet sarà la nostra ultimissima tappa prima di rientrare in città, riconsegnare l'auto presso Alamo e tornare a casa con il nostro volo che, prima di arrivare a Milano, farà scalo a Parigi. Degli outlet ormai sapete tutto (e questo, tra l'altro, entra nella top 3) e da sottolineare c'è soltanto l'ultimo pranzo nel mitico taco bell...
The next day, the last, is a long wait for our flight to Italy that will take off in the evening. After the checking out we head to Sunrise, about thirty miles north of Miami. The sawgrass mill outlet will be our very last stop before the coming back. Now you know everything about outlets (and this one enters in the top 3) and there is just to say that we had our latest lunch in the legendary taco bell ...
quindi è tempo di bilanci e qualche consiglio finale per coloro i quali fossero interessati a visitare la Florida nei mesi invernali. Innanzitutto il budget: nel periodo natalizio, due settimane in Florida, vivendole al minimo sindacale come abbiamo fatto noi, valgono a livello di costi fissi (volo, noleggio auto e hotels) sui 1100 euro (cibo e vizi esclusi, che comunque per come viviamo noi il viaggio, non sono mai un problema), ma ci si mette davvero un attimo ad arrivare anche a 2500/3000 anche 3500, complice una città, Miami, che non perdona nulla, sia a livello di ristorazione/locali che, soprattutto di hotel, in particolar modo nelle zone principali. Ovviamente dipende da quello che cercate e dal vostro spirito di adattamento. Sul clima abbiamo detto tutto: non abbiate paura a partire per la Florida d'inverno. Ecco magari, non tornerete abbronzatissimi e farete solo qualche piccolo bagnetto, ma le condizioni non sono minimanente paragonabili (in positivo) a quelle che troverete in estate dove spesso il caldo e l'umidità raggiungono valori difficili da sostenere. Tradotto in soldoni, tra agosto e dicembre... dicembre tutta la vita.
So it's time to draw conclusions and give some final advice for those who are interested in visiting Florida in winter time. First, budget: in Chirstmas time, two weeks in Florida, cost not less than 1100 euro (flight, car rental and hotels) each (excluding food and vices, which in any case are never a problem for us), but it could really take a moment to get to 2500/3000 or even 3500 euros. That's because of a city, Miami, that does not forgive anything, especially about food /restaurants and hotel, particularly in the main areas. Obviously it depends on what you want and your ability to adapt. We've said everything about the weather: do not be afraid to leave for Florida in the winter. Well, maybe you won't come back tanned and sometimes the sea water will be pretty cold, but the conditions are not comparable to those you find in summer where heat and humidity often reach incredible levels. So, if you can choose between August and December ... December, always december!
