We are leaving Texas for New Mexico, the big attraction of the 2013 trip. Not as famous as other states and not so visited also by american tourists, New Mexico is really amazing: it's called "land of enchantment". At the borderline between Texas and New Mexico a policeman stops us and asks for the passports (they are afraid about illegal immigration from Mexico).
Tra i meno ricchi ed i meno abitati degli interi Stati Uniti il New Mexico può contare sul cielo più bello dell'intero paese, probabilmente tra i più belli al mondo, sui "pueblo" abitati ancora oggi dai nativi americani (simpatici il giusto, ma ne parleremo), su una città, Santa Fe, non solo luogo ormai divenuto trendy per via dei tanti "newyorkesi" che vi risiedono, ma anche per le sue caratteristiche uniche, su Roswell che gli appassionati di Ufo certamente riconosceranno, ma soprattutto su uno dei luoghi più incantevoli che abbiamo mai visitato: il White Sands National Monument. Tutto è ovviamente soggettivo, per noi è ancora più bello dei vari Gran Canyon ed i parchi dello Utah.
Among the less wealthy and less populated of the entire United States, New Mexico can count on the most beautiful sky of the entire country, probably one of the most beautiful in the world, the "pueblo" still today inhabited by Native Americans, a city, Santa Fe, not only a place which has become trendy because of the many "New Yorkers" who reside there, but also for its unique features, Roswell and one of the the most charming places we have ever visited: the White Sands National Monument.
Troppo complicato spiegare in due righe come nel bel mezzo di una zona arida si sia arrivati ad avere queste dune di sabbia bianca che per 582 km quadrati ti portano in un'altra dimensione, il consiglio è di guardare il filmino al visitor center e poi di lasciarsi trasportare...
It's too complicated to explain how in a dry area there are the White Sands (we suggest to watch the movie at the visitor center)...
Ci aspettiamo di trovare la consueta "accozzaglia" di turisti ed invece siamo solo noi e qualche altra famigliola a goderci le White Sands. Paghiamo l'entrata (3 dollari a testa e anche qui ce ne sarebbe da dire...) e noleggiamo una sorta di ciambellone gigante per scendere dalle immense dune di sabbia. Poi, con la nostra auto, ci avventuriamo nel parco...
We expected to find a lot of tourist in the park, but there are only few families and we can really enjoy the white sands. The ticket costs 3 dollars each, we rent a "big donut" and with our car we start the loop.
Appena entrati nel parco il cielo diventa sempre più minaccioso, nuvole e vento accompagnano la nostra avventura alle White Sands...
As soon as we enter in the park, the weather becomes dark: clouds ad wind are threatening...
....ma niente può fermarci se c'è da giocare, neppure il vento.

Con il nostro ciambellone/snowboard scendiamo dalle più ripide dune di sabbia...
