It's time to leave the "big apple , the capital is waiting for us. We take the Greyhound bus and with a little less than twenty dollars we can reach Washington. A little more than three hours of travel and here we are in the capital. The subway is closed (for work) and directions on where to catch the bus are not very clear. We walk under sun of the capital (awful hot in here, the same as Texas) for nearly a mile when, tired, in the end we decide to take a taxi. Obviously, after so much effort, shake shack...

La giornata successiva, l'unica che abbiamo a disposizione per la visita della città, è intensa. Decidiamo di recarci in tutti i luoghi principali senza l'ausilio della metro, si camminerà tanto e farà un caldo tremendo (almeno 3-4 gatorade a testa). Torniamo alla Casa Bianca, dove non mancano i turisti e neppure gli americani che protestano contro il governo...
The next day, the only one in the city, is full of things to see. We decide to visit all the places by walk: it's hot and we need at least 3 or 4 gatorades each. We come back to White House, where there are a lot of tourist and people protesting.

molti dei quali inquadrati migliaia e migliaia di volte nei film e telefilm collegati al governo americano (chi segue la serie tv "Scandal" li riconoscerà tutti)

Non vi tediamo parlandovi di storia, sia perchè come abbiamo già detto non è il nostro campo, ma anche perchè preferiamo parlarvi della città e delle sue particolarità magari meno famose. A Washington farà sì un gran caldo in estate, ma non mancano fiumi, laghi, parchi e tanto verde. Le camminate diventano un pochino meno pesanti...

A metà pomeriggio Marco e l'Ale, cotti, abdicano e decidono di tornare in hotel a godersi un po' di piscina all'ultimo piano dell'edificio, ma dopo neanche 20 minuti arriva un tremendo temporale e sono costretti a scappare. Poco male anche stavolta, perchè in serata andremo in uno dei posti che aspettavamo maggiormente, BEN'S CHILI BOWL... e l'adrenalina è tanta!
In the middle of the afternoon Marco and Ale decide to come back to the hotel and enjoy the pool. But after 20 minutes a terrible storm comes and they are forced to leave the pool. Whatever, tonight is the night of Ben's Chili Bowl and we are so excited!
Sì, parliamo di Man vs Food. Ovviamente. Ma non un Man vs Food qualsiasi, questo locale "da due soldi", pieno di "gente del posto" come li definisce Adam Richman e non sempre con la faccia "simpatica" (eufemismo), non solo è il posto preferito da Bill Cosby, ma anche uno dei locali frequentati da Obama in persona, gli unici due a poter mangiare gratis nel locale. Che fortuna!
Yes, we are talking about Man Vs Food. This restaurant, full of "locals" not always with the "funny" face (understatement), not only is the Bill Cosby's favourite, but also one of the places attended by Obama himself, the only two to be able to eat for free in the room. What a luck!
Non riusciamo di un soffio a sederci al tavolo del presidente, ma ovviamente il piatto tipico di Ben's Choli Bowl, Hot dog e patatine (5 dollari), con l'aggiunta di uno dei chili piccanti più buoni di sempre e simbolo del locale, resterà tra le esperienze culinarie più belle di sempre.
We can't seat at the Obama's table, but we eat the typical dish of Ben's Chili Bowl. Hot dog, french fries and hot Chili. One of the top 3 food experiences of our lives.
Poi però ci sarà da smaltire... e allora cosa c'è di meglio che una partita a biliardo tra gli unici due "capaci", Ale e Raffaele, una sfida all'ultimo sangue vinta da... Marco che, mentre si gustava il match in compagnia di Chiara, si era scolato due birre una più buona dell'altra. Altro che biliardo!
Now we need to dispose the food. What's better than a pool game? Ale and Raffaele, the only two able to play, are involved in a big challenge, won by... Marco! Yes, while they are playing, he drinks two beers! Pool what?
