Solitamente si dice "Natale con i tuoi, Pasqua con chi vuoi", per noi invece sia Natale che Pasqua sono buoni per le nostre incursioni ed escursioni in giro per il mondo. Questa volta, stranamente, siamo finiti negli Stati Uniti (che caso...) per vivere per la seconda volta lo stato della Florida dopo l'esperienza estiva del 2012. Ovviamente con tanta, tantissima esperienza in più e con la volontà di scoprire tutte quelle cose che, per motivi di tempo ed inesperienza, avevamo tralasciato un paio d'annetti va. Prima di entrare nel vivo, un paio di dati, per noi importanti nel caso qualcuno volesse seguire le nostre orme. Il volo l'abbiamo prenotato nel mese di maggio (550 euro, andata via New York, ritorno via Parigi) ed ovviamente abbiamo evitato il capodanno dove i prezzi si sarebbero almeno raddoppiati, il noleggio della macchina ci è costato 276€ in totale per 13 giorni. Inseriamo anche una novità, legata ai costi. Il budget minimo per affrontare la spedizione di, appunto, 13 giorni (dal 16 al 29 dicembre) è, secondo i nostri calcoli, di 1100 euro a testa se viaggiate in due (compreso volo, noleggio macchina, hotels e parchi, ovviamente non cenando nei ristoranti): restare al di sotto di questa cifra è davvero impresa titanica. Fare peggio invece è facilissimo e ovviamente, come sempre, dipende da persona a persona. Sì, lo sappiamo, veniamo al dunque. Ma che tempo fa in Florida a Natale? Durante i nostri tredici giorni abbiamo imparato che ad Orlando si passa tranquillamente dal costume alla felpa e da 12 a 25 gradi a seconda delle ore del giorno ed è la zona sicuramente meno calda, che sul golfo è estate ma l'acqua è gelida al contrario dell'estate dove è molto calda, che a Key West si sta da Dio (caldo già dalle 8 del mattino e 25 gradi tutto il giorno: si, si fa il bagno) e che Miami è una via di mezzo tra il golfo e Key West ma molto più umido. Se c'è il sole è piena estate, e l'acqua è a "temperatura Mar Adriatico", mettiamola così. In sostanza è il periodo migliore per visitare la Florida...
In Italy we usually use to say "Christmas with your parents, Easter with who you want!". But for us both Christmas and Easter are good occasions fot travelling through the world. Also for our Christmas trip we decided to go back to our beloved USA: Florida for the second time and with a little bit of more experience after our visit in 2012. Before starting our tale we want to give you some important advices for someone of you who is interested in having a trip like ours. We've booked the flight in May (550 € each) and avoiding new year eve, otherwise prices would have been higher! We payed the rental of our car 276€ for 12 days. So the minimum budget for this trip for 13 days (from the 16th to 29th december) in our opinion is about 1100€ each (flight, car rental, hotels, parks etc included, not dining in restaurants): remain below this amount is pretty much difficult. Do worse of course, as always, is easy and it depends on people. Yes, we know, let's go. How is the weather in Florida at Christmas time? During our thirteen days we have learned that Orlando is weird: from the swimwear to sweatshirt and from 12 to 25 degrees... depending on the time of day! Orlando is definitely less hot, in the gulf is summer, but the sea-water is really cold, while in Key West you'll get the perfect temperature (it's hot already at 8 am and 25 degrees all day long: yes, you can have a bath into the sea) and Miami is in the middle between the Gulf and Key West but much more humid. If it's sunny it's summer, and the water is similar to our Adriatic sea temperature. Basically this is the best time to visit the Florida ...
17 DICEMBRE: FROM MIAMI TO ORLANDO (371km)
Arrivando tardi il giorno 16 in quel di Miami e dovendo anche ritirare l'auto presso Alamo, abbiamo scelto di dormire vicino all'aereoporto. I costi qui si riducono di un terzo e anche la qualità non è male. La nostra camera, addirittura, si affaccia su un campo da golf! Tornassimo indietro, dormiremmo qui anche durante la nostra permanenza a Miami...
As we arrived late on day 16 in Miami and had to pick up the car at Alamo, we have chosen to sleep close to the airport. The costs here are reduced and the quality is not so bad. Our room even overlooks a golf course! Thinking about our experience, we could have slept here during our stay in Miami in the last days of our vacation

Le autostrade americane come sempre ci aiutano segnalandoci, uscita dopo uscita, quello che potremmo trovare e, dopo un espresso da Dunkin Donuts ci immergiamo nei piccoli laghetti che caratterizzano il percorso che collega le due più importanti città della Florida.
American highways, as always, help us by reporting, exit after exit, what we could find for any need (restaurants, bar, gas and hotels) and, after an espresso at Dunkin Donuts we are ready drive to Orlando passing through all the small lakes that characterize Florida.
La Florida è l'unico stato americano in cui l'autostrada si paga. Voi non dovrete preoccuparvi, perchè l'agenzia con cui noleggerete l'auto provvederà ad addebitarvi l'importo senza alcun bisogno di acquistare il ticket per ogni tratto che percorrerete. Dovrete solo prestare attenzione a passare sotto la corsia del "sun pass" (una sorta di telepass) e non dove si ritirano i ticket. Noi una volta abbiamo sbagliato e temiamo ci arrivi la multa...
No, Orlando non è una città come le altre, ma probabilmente questo lo sapete già. E se fosse per noi ci trasferiremmo subito lì.
Florida is the only US state in which you pay the toll on the highway. You do not have to worry because the rental car agency will then charge the amount without any need to buy a ticket for each leg along it. You just have to pay attention to pass under the "sun pass" lane and not under the the ticket. We once went wrong ...
Orlando is not a city like any other, but you probably already know this. And if it is up to us we would transfer immediately there.
Gli hotel qui costano pochissimo e ne approfittiamo: la vista dalla camera ci ricorda che se sei ad Orlando i motivi non possono che essere due: Disney ed i parchi divertimento. Ce ne sono un'infinità, altro che Gardaland.
Hotels here are very cheap and we take advantage: the view from the room is a reminder that if you are in Orlando the reasons can only be two: Disney and the theme parks.
Per quello però c'è tempo, per il momento ci godiamo la piscina.

è quasi sera e dopo una veloce capatina presso l'Orlando Premium Outlet, chiudiamo con il "nostro" Tgi Friday's che, manco a farlo apposta, è a cinquanta metri dal nostro hotel. Perchè il nostro motto americano è che, d'accordo la frutta a pranzo,, ma la scelta sul dove e come cenare la sera è FONDAMENTALE.
It is almost evening and after a quick detour at the Orlando Premium Outlets, we close our first day in Florida with "our" Tgi Friday's: it's about fifty meters far from our hotel, wow! Because our american slogan is "yes, fruit for lunch,, but the choice on where and how to dine in the evening is IMPORTANT, very very important".
Ah, chi va in America e non cena almeno una sera da TGI con una steak al Jack Daniels ed una cheesecake...
Well, who goes into the US has to dine at least once at TGI with a Jack Daniels' steak and a cheesecake ...
