ci incamminiamo verso il "Presidential Trail", un percorso lungo poco meno di 800 metri, che permette non solo di avvicinarsi al Mount Rushmore, ma anche di poterlo ammirare da differenti angolazioni.

La scultura, nonostante non sia grande come quella di "Cavallo Pazzo" che tra qualche anno verrà ultimata non lontano dal Rushmore, è imponente e ci mette quasi in soggezione.

Pagato profumatamente ovviamente, perchè gli americani ti faranno anche pagare 11 dollari il Mount Rushmore, ma ti spennano ogni volta che c'è di mezzo l'intrattenimento-divertimento. Però non riusciamo a resistere, prendiamo la seggiovia...

Keystone è davvero interessante a livello di intrattenimento e vorremmo giocarci altri jolly, ma è quasi mezzogiorno e il "dovere" chiama. Oggi, fortunatamente, la tappa non è troppo impegnativa: è la giornata delle Badlands, raggiungibili in un'ora e mezza buona.
Keystone is really an interesting town. There is a lot of entertainment and we would like do a lot of things here. But it's almost noon and we have to go, even if the stage today is not too demanding. Today is the Badlands day, far just one hour and half from the Black Hills.

e siamo pronti per visitare il Badland National Park. Ah, in un'ora e mezza di strada è cambiato tutto. Dal fresco delle colline, le Black Hills, ad un territorio arido. Fa caldo, molto, molto caldo.

evitando di percorrere i trail dato che, come ormai avrete capito, non ci interessano molto. In compenso ci piace fare foto artistiche. Oddio, ci piace... all'Ale piacciono!

Il caldo è abbastanza opprimente, ma se non avete in mente di effettuare trail, potete permettervi come noi di visitare le Badlands (che tra 500 mila anni scompariranno, quindi c'è da fare in fretta...) anche in pieno pomeriggo.
It's really hot, but if you don't want to do strenous trails, Badlands can even be visited in the middle of the afternoon. We were here at 3 pm and survived...
In ogni caso, trail o non trail, se capiterete da queste parti la deviazione è obbligatoria. Come dice Frank Lloid Wright "qui c'è un po' di Maya e un po di Egizo". E' uno dei luoghi più mistici, un luogo spirituale scolpito nella natura, dove l'avvallamento del terreno crea un paesaggio surreale
Anyway, trails or not, if you are around Badlands National Park, you shuld stop there! And quick, Badlands are going to disappear in 500.000 years... As Frank Lloyd Wright says, "here there is a little bit of 'Maya and a bit of Egypt." It's one of the most mystical places, a spiritual carved place in nature, where the dip in the ground creates a surreal landscape.
A differenza di Keystone, a Wall c'è poco o nulla eccezion fatta per il Drug che catalizza tutti i turisti. Non sono neppure tanti i ristoranti... ma fortunatamente, una volta deciso di non cenare lì, ci vengono incontro una coppia di americani che ci consiglia un messicano lungo una via secondaria. Discreto, nulla più, ma in confronto a quello che avremmo trovato al Drug...
Unlike Keystone, there is nothing to do in Wall except for the Drug that calls all the tourists. There are few restaurants ... but fortunately, once we decided not to dine at the Drug, we met an American couple that recommended a mjexican restaurant along a secondary road. Decent, nothing more, but compared to what we would have found at the Drug ...
