2011 trip: sognando California (day 9-10: Monterey and Pismo Beach)

Di errori ne abbiamo fatti il primo anno, ma almeno qui siamo stati quasi perfetti. Sono in tanti a fare il "diretto" San Francisco Los Angeles in autostrada (5 ore) perdendosi la famosa Highway 1, quella che dalla baia porta sino alla città degli angeli costeggiando l'oceano e regalando immagini da copertina. Ovviamente ci si impiega molto più tempo ed è consigliato fare tappa nelle varie Monterey, Carmel etc... cittadine uniche. Noi siam partiti da Monterey, fermandoci un giorno e utilizzando il successivo per raggiungere Pismo Beach. Ecco, per il caldo ed il mare dei film americani con ambientazione californiana ripassare... Un freddo stile marzo italiano. L'ale è contenta il giusto...

We made a lot of mistakes during the first trip in the Us, but here we were almost perfect. Many people take the highway when they want to reach Los Angeles from San Francisco, missing the famous Highway 1, from the bay to the city of angels along the ocean. Of course, it takes much longer and is recommended to stop at various Monterey, Carmel, etc. We spent two days along the Highway 1, the only think we didn't like was the cold!

ma eccezion fatta per qualche surfista, non è come ce l'avevamo in mente. Ci diciamo "ma vedrai che a Los Angeles lo faremo il bagno...". Anche qui, bene ma non benissimo.

Ci dedichiamo allora al solito convenientissimo shopping americano in attesa della nostra prima volta da Bubba Gump (tra quelli in cui siamo stati sicuramente il più bello). C'è addirittura la famosa panchina con la valigia, le scarpe di Forrest e la targhetta che recita: "I'm Forrrest, Forrest Gump. People call me Forrest Gump".

Facciamo anche giro per Cannery Row, il lungomare di Monterey... e, nel tornare alla macchina (avevamo parcheggiato parecchio lontano ed in una zona buia) momento panico quando Marco... "Ale, guarda su quel bancone, la bimba". Sì, era la classica bambina dei film horror con in mano la bambola, finta ovviamente, ma al buio, con pochissime luci che illuminavano la strada, sembrava vera... Inutile dire che L'Ale ci rimarrà quasi secca.

We also have a walk in Cannery Row, the Monterey waterfront ... and while we are going back to the car (we had parked quite far away and in a dark area ) panic moment when Marco says ... " Ale , look at that balcony, the girl ." Yes, she is the classic horror films girl, with the doll in her hands. Fake of course, but in the dar , with very few lights, she looks  real ... Ale is really close to scream!

Il giorno successivo lasciamo Monterey e, prima di dirigerci sulla Highway 1, facciamo tappa nella splendida 17mile drive, la famosa strada scenografica (9.50 dollari per autoveicolo l'ingresso, ovviamente i residenti non pagano) che attraversa campi da golf (gli Us Open 2000 si disputarono proprio qui) e ville da sogno. Qui vivono i ricchi, ma i ricchi per davvero.

The day after we leave Monterey and, before heading on Highway 1, we stopat the beautiful 17mile drive , the famous scenic road ( 9.50 dollars per vehicle the fee entrance, of course residents do not pay ) crossing golf courses ( the U.S. Open 2000 were played here) and mansions. Rich people live here.

Lungo queste 17 miglia (da qui il nome 17-mile drive) che collegano Pacific-Grove a Pebble Beach facciamo centinaia di foto...

Lasciata la 17-mile drive ci tuffiamo nella Highway 1: seguendola arriveremo fino a Los Angeles.

Leaving the 17-mile drive we dive into Highway 1: we'll follow it till  Los Angeles. 

Noi però faremo tappa a Pismo Beach.

But we have to stop at Pismo Beach.

Ma non prima di esserci fermati sostanzialmente ogni cinque minuti...

We stop every five minutes along this road. There is always something to see...

Arrivati a Pismo Beach andiamo a fare compagnia ai surfisti (qui almeno fa caldo, ma per il bagno ancora niente...)

Siamo ormai a poco più di un'ora da Los Angeles. Dopo due giorni spesi lungo la highway 1 siamo pronti a raggiungere la città degli angeli.

We are now just  an hour far from Los Angeles. After two days spent along the highway 1 we are ready to reach the city of angels.
