"Double Tap" a PARIGI (day 1)

Parigi: città magica, romantica, che Marco porta nel cuore fin dalla gita delle superiori e che facilmente ha contagiato l'Ale: per questo motivo è diventata ben presto la nostra città europea preferita: l'unica (fino ad ora) che ci ha ospitati due volte..come si dice su instagram: double tap if you like it!

Era Marzo 2012 quando abbiamo deciso di visitare Parigi per la prima volta ed esattamente due anni dopo, causa anche regalo di compleanno del papà dell'Ale (che per i suoi 30 anni ha pensato bene di mandarla a Disneyland, il che la dice lunga su che "family" siamo...), siamo tornati nella città dell'amore per eccellenza.

Ma andiamo con ordine: iniziamo con la nostra prima esperienza parigina 27-30/03/2012
Sapevamo già che Parigi fosse una città "completa", ci sono moltissime cose da vedere: dai musei ai monumenti, dai grattacieli ai parchi e siccome "non è tutto lì", ci si deve munire di pazienza e una mappa della metro per poter raggiungere tranquillamente ogni punto di interesse.

Prima tappa dopo il check-in in hotel in zona école militaire, è ovviamente la Tour Eiffel.

Paris: a magic, romantic, city. Marco has carried it in his heart since he visited the "city of love" with the school. Ale took less than a day to fall in love with the city and this is why Paris has become our european favourite city. The only one that has hosted us twice...  as instagram says : double tap if you like it!

It was March 2012 when we decided to visit Paris for the first time and exactly two years later we're back in the city of love. Why twice? Because Ale has received for her 30th birthday a special gift from her father: a ticket for Disneyland. Weird family...

Let's start from the beginning: our first experience in Paris (27-30/03/2012). We already Knew that Paris was a "complete" city: there are plenty of things to see, from museums to monuments, from parks to skycrapers but all the things are very close each other. We must arm ourserlves of patient and... a map of the subway to reach quietly each point of interest.

Pranzo veloce al "Le carrousel de la Tour Eiffel": il primo pasto non può che essere una deliziosa Crèpe alla nutella. Ah Il carosello è un simbolo di Parigi tanto quanto la Tour Eiffel. Una crepe ed un giro in giostra sono obbligatori.

Quick lunch at "Le carrousel de la Tour Eiffel": our first meal of course is a delicious crèpe with nutella. Oh, the "carrousel" is a symbol of Paris as much as the Eiffel Towe. A crèpe and and carrousel ride are a "must".

Questo sarà il simbolo della gita a Parigi: l'Ale è riuscita a fare 2/2: due crèpes, due sbrodolate!

Crepe che smaltiremo immediatamente poichè decidiamo di affrontare a piedi la salita sulla torre per risparmiare qualche eurino, ma anche perchè è decisamente più affascinante. Ben 670 gradini per raggiungere il secondo piano, da lì alla punta invece avranno pietà di noi e fortunatamente metteranno a disposizione l'ascensore per tutti.

We decide to climb the tower: buy the "stairs-ticket" instead of the "Elevator-ticket" (cheaper and exciting). 670 steps to reach the second floor, from there to the top the only possible way is taking the elevator.

Finalmente arriva l'ora di cena (e come sapete per noi la cena stessa conta parecchio, in qualsiasi trip) e affamatissimi dopo la scalata della Torre decidiamo di cenare nei famosi Quartieri Latini, vicino alla Cattedrale di Notre Dame. Quindi, prima di addentrarci alla ricerca di un localino facciamo i primi scatti anche alla famosa Cattedrale

Finally it's time for dinner and, very hungry, we dine at famous Latin Quarter, close to the Notre Dame Cathedral. Before looking for the "right" restaurant we take some picture near the cathedral.

Per poi trovare un ristorantino tipico dove cenare: i quartieri latini sono caratteristici, sono pieni di piccoli ristoranti (francesi, greci...) e localini dove puoi mangiare davvero con pochi euri e c'è l'imbarazzo della scelta. Ovviamente ci vuole anche un pizzico di fortuna: c'è il ristorante dove mangi benissimo e quello un po' più scarsino... Detto questo, a Parigi, almeno una cena va fatta lì. Un po' come la crepe al "Carousel".

The Latin Quarter are full of small restaurants ( French, Greek ... ) and cafes where you can really eat with few euros and there is plenty of choice. Of course, you need to be lucky: there are a lot of restaurants, you can eat well or eat bad...but in Paris at least one dinner should be done there.

Avendo subìto il fascino della Tour Eiffel non possiamo che tornarci dopo cena, per fare due passi e qualche foto romantica.

The Eiffel Tower at night is something difficult to explain: really amazing. We come back for a walk around it and some romantic pictures.

Ma ormai ci conoscete..non siamo mai troppo mielosi..anzi, siamo a nostro agio se possiamo fare gli "stupidini" invece che protagonisti di noiosi baci.

But now you know us... we are comfortable when we are acting like stupid guys instead of boring kisses!

"Double Tap" a Parigi (day 2)

Tante cose da vedere e poco tempo a disposizione. Sarà una frase che pronuncerete spesso a Parigi. Il "day 2" è terrificante a livello di quantità di chilometri macinati, per fortuna non perdiamo troppo tempo al Louvre, la prima tappa odierna. Arriviamo con la metro direttamente sotto il museo e in un'oretta e mezza l'abbiamo girato (ci sono persone che impiegano anche due giorni per vederlo, ma non siamo noi...).

So many things to do and see and the day lasts only 24 hours. It is a sentence that is often pronounced in Paris. The "Day 2" is terrifying: we walk for miles and miles, fortunately we don't lose too much time in the Louvre museum, the first step of the today. We arrive by subway directly at the museum and in an hour and a half we visit it (there are people whospend two days in the museum, but not us ... ).

L'interesse dell'Ale è tutto per "Amore e psiche": ci rimaniamo sostanzialmente mezz'ora e faremo foto da ogni angolazione...

Ale is interested in "Love and psyche": we stay half and hour around this sculpture and take a lot of pictures.

ma ovviamente sono tantissime le cose che andrebbero viste: noi però ci fermiamo alle principali (Gioconda, etc).

but of course there are so many things that should be seen: anyway we only see the main things (Mona Lisa, etc. ).

Vorremmo anche pranzare anche all'interno del Louvre, nella zona sottostante il museo e piena di fast food e cucine di ogni paese. Ma al "guarda Ale, un topolino" pronunciato da Marco mentre in fila aspettavamo il nostro turno per l'ordinazione la magia finisce e "si pranza da un'altra parte".

We would also have lunch in the Louvre, in the area below the museum  (full of fast food and cuisines of each country). But when Marco says "looks Ale , a little mouse" the magic disappears. "Ok we are going to have lunch somewhere else". 

Col senno di poi meglio così. Negli splendidi Giardini delle Tuileries che cominciano proprio in prossimità del Louvre riusciamo a gustarci un panino sulle sedie che costeggiano il laghettino. Una moda a Parigi... e noi vogliamo essere "cool", ovvero fare i parigini.

This "adventure" saves us. Yes because we have lunch in the Tuileries Gardens that start right next to the Louvre. We enjoy a sandwich on the chairs near the lake. It's fashion in Paris ... and we want to be "cool".

Guardiamo la cartina e "gli Champs Elysee non sono lontani...e poi guarda, in lontananza si vede anche l'Arco di Trionfo" esclamiamo. Ecco, non fatevi ingannare: non sono vicinissimi, anzi.

Let's look at the map and... "the Champs Elysee are not far away ... and then look in the distance you can also see the Arch of Triumph" we say. Don't be fooled : they are not very close!

Ma tra un macaron, davvero buonissimo...

But while we are eating a "macaron" (really good)...

percorriamo tutti gli Champs Elysee ed arriviamo sino all'Arco di Trionfo. Si potrebbe anche visitare pagando qualcosina, ma ci limitiamo ad ammirarlo da vicino.

we cross all the Champs Elysee and the "Arc de Triomphe comes up. You could also visit it, but we prefer to admire the arch.

Ripresa la metro (comoda, sempre affollata e mai pericolosa) ci dirigiamo verso la Basilique du Sacrè Coeur de Montmartre.

Back on the subway (convenient, always busy and never dangerous) we head towards the Basilique du Sacré Coeur de Montmartre.

Arrivati in cima e dopo aver visitato la basilica scopriamo con vivissima gioia che il biglietto RER (la metro parigina) è valido anche per la funivia che ci riporterà ai piedi della collinetta su cui è posta la "Sacrè Coeur".

Once at the top and after visiting the church with  joy we discover that the RER ticket (Paris subway) is also valid for the cable car that will take us back to the foot of the hill. 

Dato che la stanchezza comincia a farsi sentire, non possiamo che approfittarne.

We feel tired, the cable car is like water in the desert.

L'ultima tappa odierna, tra le altre cose neppure lontana dalla Basilica del Sacro Cuore, è il famoso Moulin Rouge. Giusto un paio di minuti per le classiche foto di rito, anche perchè il quartiere di Pigalle-Moulin Rouge non ci dice assolutamente nulla e tra l'altro, anche per noi che siamo quelli che han dormito ad Inglewood in California e che sostanzialmente non abbiam la "faccia da turista", non ci sembra proprio tranquillissimo già di giorno, figuriamoci la sera. Se non si hanno particolari interessi in spettacoli a "luci rosse", negozi "hard" o discoteche (ce ne sono tantissime), consigliamo di andarci di giorno.

The last stage, close to the Sacred Heart, is the famous Moulin Rouge. Just a couple of minutes for the classic pictures, because the district of Pigalle-Moulin Rouge tells us absolutely nothing and by the way, even for us who are the ones who have slept in Inglewood, California, and we have not the " tourist face", it seems not very quiet even in the afternon. You can imagine at night... If you do not have special interests in "red light" shows," "hard" stores or discos (it's full of discos!) we suggest you to go there during the day.

Decisamente più turistici e tranquilli i "quartieri latini" dove ancora una volta andremo a cenare. Se la prima sera abbiamo optato per la cena "alla francese" con cozze e fonduta di formaggio, la seconda è "alla greca". Musica greca live e clima familiare e tanto che la proprietaria convincerà l'Ale a ballare il "sirtaki" in sua compagnia.

Definitely better the " Latin Quarter " where once again we're going to have dinner . If the first night we opted for a "French" dinner with mussels and cheese fondue, the second is "Greek style". Live Greek music and family atmosphere... The owner convinces Ale to dance "Sirtaki" with her.

Ci offrono anche uno stranissimo aperitivo alcolico "made in Greece"...

They also offer us a greek drink "made in Greece"...

La cena è ovviamente a base di prodotti locali e quindi il solito Souvlaki, la moussaka etc.

Dinner is of course "greek style": souvlaky, moussaka...

Finiremo la serata abbastanza ubriachi...

We are a little bit drunk...

e faremo amicizia con i proprietari. Al nostro ritorno nei quartieri latini qualche giorno fa il ristorante greco c'era ancora, ma non abbiamo visto i proprietari. Speriamo fossero in vacanza...

And we become friends with the owners. When we came back to Latin Quarters some days ago, we found the greek restaurant but the owners weren't there. Maybe they were on holiday...

"Double Tap" a Parigi (day 3)

Parigi è oppure no la città degli innamorati? Sì, e allora non potevamo che aprire il day 3 con il Ponte des arts che se da una parte è la "casa" dei pittori che espongono le loro opere, dall'altra è anche la "casa" degli innamorati che lasciano un lucchetto in segno d'amore.

Is Paris the city of lovers or not? Yes it is, and then we are forced to start "day 3" with the "Ponte des arts" that is not only the "home" of painters that show their works but also the "home" of the lovers that leave a padlock as sign of love.

Anche oggi c'è tanta carne al fuoco e tanti chilometri da macinare, tra metro e camminate. Partiamo dalla Cattedrale di Notre Dame, il principale luogo di culto cattolico di Parigi. Situata proprio a due passi dalla Senna e dai quartieri latini, la cattedrale è ovviamente uno dei simboli della città. Non si può non entrare e visitarla.

Even today there are many things to see, a lot of miles to do. We start from the Notre Dame Cathedral, the main Catholic place in Paris. Situated close to the Seine and the Latin Quarter, the Cathedral is obviously one of the symbols of the city. The cathedral, of course, worth a visit. 

Fatto 30 vorremmo fare anche 31 e visitare la Sainte Chapelle, ma uno sciopero ce lo impedisce.

We would like to visit the Sainte Chapelle as well but a strike doesn't allow us to enter in the church.

Viriamo allora sugli splendidi Giardini del Lussemburgo...

We visit the marvellous Luxembourg Gardens then...

e per pranzo la nostra prima enorme baguette alla francese (salame e ovviamente quintalate di burro, come piace a loro, comprata direttamente in boulangerie). Poi via verso Montparnasse (il grattacielo che si vede sullo sfondo).

At lunch we eat our first huge French baguette (with salami and obviously a lot of butter, bought directly at the "boulangerie"). Then straight to Montparnasse ( the skyscraper you can see in the background).

Già, perchè se i turisti salgono solo sulla tour eiffel, quelli "cool" salgono anche sulla torre di Montparnasse. No, non ci sarà il migliaio di persone che affolla la tour eiffel, ma la visuale su Parigi è sempre imponente.

Yes, because if tourists only go up on the tour eiffel , "cool" people also go up on the Montparnasse Tower. There won't be thousands of people and the crowd you find at the tour eiffel, but the view over Paris is always impressive. Definitely worth a visit.

Possiamo fare foto in tutta tranquillità, cosa non sempre possibile sulla torre eiffel.

We can take pictures in peace, which is not always possible on the Eiffel tower .

Riusciamo anche a rilassarci e prendere un po' di sole...

We can also relax and enjoy the sun...

e sdraiarsi a più di 200 metri di altezza. Non sarà lo Skydeck di Chigago, ma è pur sempre un'esperienza "top".

and lie more than 200 meters tall. It's not the Skydeck of Chicago, but it is always a "top" experience.

Finita per oggi? Assolutamente no. Nonostante non avessimo più energie e, spesso e volentieri, sopraffatti dalla voglia di sdraiarsi da qualche parte (i francesi appena vedono un po' di "verde" lo fanno) continuiamo il nostro giro...

Done for today? No, absolutely. Although we have almost finished the energy and sometimes we would like to lie down somewhere as the french do...

raggiungiamo a piedi la zona di Les Invalides, quartiere famoso per i musei militari e la tomba di Napoleone.

We reach the "Les Invalides" area, a quarter famous for its museums and the Napoleon Tomb.

L'ultima "fatica", ma ovviamente anche la più bella ed affascinante, è il giro in battello sulla Senna, un altro "must" quando si è a Parigi.

The last "fatigue" is also the most beautiful: the boat trip on the Seine, another "must " when you are in Paris.

Una sorta di "seightseeing tour" di un'oretta sull'acqua...

con partenza ed arrivo alla Tour Eiffel.

Per l'ultima cena ancora Quartieri Latini per, fortunatamente, la cena migliore della spedizione. Ovviamente in un tipico locale francese che, come gli altri, sarà molto economico (mai più di 25/30 euro in due).

For the last dinner again at the Latin Quarter. Luckily it's not only the last but also the best dinner. Of course in a typical french restaurant that is as cheap as the others. 

Non può mancare la fonduta di formaggio...

e quintalate di carne con mille salse...

and a lot of meat with five kind of sauces.

Ah, ovviamente e come sempre non avanzerà nulla...

Oh, of course we finish everything, as always.

Anche il boss gradisce (ma fortunatamente non è una novità...)

Even the boss likes everything (but fortunately she always likes everithing...) 

e nonostante la pienezza ci concederemo una crostata al limone con meringa in una delle tante boulangerie aperte fino a tardi nei quartieri latini.

and despite the fullness we  enjoy a lemon cake in one of the many boulangeries open till late in the Latin Quarter. 

Per smaltire, come sempre, breve tragitto in metro e stop in zona tour eiffel dove tra foto di rito...

Then a short subway ride till the Eiffel Tower. In the evening it is really amazing.

and of course a fast walk...

la giornata è già finita. Stravolti, ma felici. Come sempre a Parigi.
