La nona e penultima giornata girovagando nelle Dolomiti è anche l'ultima che vi raccontiamo. Già, perchè la decima e conclusiva giornata, complice pioggia, ha ridotto di moltissimo quello che era il programma originale: per questo dunque ve ne parleremo in questo post, unendo le ultime due tappe in un solo ricco racconto tra Austria e Lombardia, dove il viaggio, iniziato dieci giorni prima, si conclude. Siamo ancora nel cuore del Tirolo e ci stiamo spostando verso ovest, in un luogo che unisce la natura alle leggende, perfetto se viaggiate con bambini al seguito. Siamo a Zams, poco prima di prendere la 180 che ci riporterà dopo qualche ora al confine con l'Italia, per visitare il Lötzklamm - Zammer Lochputz, un piccolo percorso a tappe che regala scorsi entusiasmanti ed anche la possibilità di immergersi nelle leggende del luogo (orari estivi: 10-17). Per accedere al breve percorso, che completerete in circa mezz'ora, dovrete acquistare il ticket (4.50 a persona) e ricevere in dotazione l'elmetto che dovrete indossare per tutto il tragitto.
The ninth and penultimate day wandering in the Dolomites is also the last one we talk about. Yes, because the rain reduced what was the original schedule of the tenth and final day: this is why we're about to talk about it in this post, combining the last two stages in a single rich story between Austria and Lombardy, the italian region where the journey began ten days earlier. We are still in the heart of Austrian Tyrol and moving west, to a place that combines nature with legends, the perfect place if you are traveling with children. We are in Zams, just before taking the 180 which will take us back to the border with Italy in a few hours, to visit the Lötzklamm - Zammer Lochputz, an easy trail that offers exciting glimpses and also the opportunity to immerse yourself in the legends of the place (summer hours: 10-17). To access the short route, which can be easily hiked in about half an hour, visitors will need to buy the ticket (4.50 per person) and receive the helmet that must be wear during the whole journey.
LA LEGGENDA DI ZAMMER LOCHPUTZ
Un vecchio fabbro, che viveva un tempo nella gola di Zammerloch, dopo la perdita di sua moglie divenne decisamente testardo. Un giorno, tuttavia, vide una ninfa cantare proprio sulla più grande delle cascate di Lochputz: lei le raccontò della sua solitudine e finirono per vivere insieme nella fucina del vecchio. La bellezza della ragazza però non passò inosservata tra i giovani della zona che provarono a corteggiarla. Anche il pastore del Lochalm si era innamorato di lei e aveva chiesto al fabbro la mano della figlia adottiva. Il fabbro tuttavia non volle più lasciare andare la ninfa e quindi diede al pastore tre compiti quasi impossibili: solo dopo che il pastore avesse superato questi test avrebbe ottenuto il permesso di sposarsi. Il pastore ce la fece. Il fabbro accettò il matrimonio dei due innamorati, ma non volendo mantenere la sua promessa, decise di tagliare i cavi del ponte sospeso che portava alla sua fucina. Quando il pastore salì sul ponte pieno di aspettative cadde nel Lötzbach. Mentre il ragazzo cadeva, il cielo si oscurò ed un fulmine colpì. Il giovane pastore intanto si trasformava in un enorme toro arrabbiato, prima di scomparire per sempre nelle inondazioni. La fucina bruciò, il toro e la ninfa si ritirarono sul retro della gola, dove furono nascosti dall'umanità, uniti nell'eternità...
THE LEGEND OF ZAMMER LOCHPUTZ
An old blacksmith, who once lived in the Zammerloch Gorge, became decidedly stubborn after the loss of his wife. One day, however, he saw a nymph singing right on the largest of the Lochputz Falls: she told him about her loneliness and they ended up living together in the old man's forge. The beauty of the girl, however, did not go unnoticed by the young people of the area who tried to court her. The shepherd of Lochalm also felt in love with her and asked the blacksmith for his adopted daughter's hand. The blacksmith, however, did not want to let the nymph go anymore and therefore gave the shepherd three almost impossible tasks: "if you pass these tests, you'll get her" he said. The shepherd made it. The blacksmith accepted the marriage of the two lovers, but he did not want to keep his promise. He decided then to cut the cables of the suspension bridge that led to his forge. When the shepherd got on the bridge full of expectations, he fell into the Lötzbach. As the boy fell, the sky darkened and lightning struck. The young shepherd meanwhile transformed himself into a huge angry bull, before disappearing forever in the floods. The forge burned, the bull and the nymph retreated to the back of the gorge, where they were hidden by humanity, united in eternity ...
IL PERCORSO DEL LOCHPUTZ IN DIECI TAPPE
Il percorso del Lochputz si divide in 10 stazioni, ognuna delle quali vi racconterà qualcosa in più sulla storia del luogo. Ed ovviamente anche sulle leggenda che, quando si parla di Lochputz, non può mai mancare. Un percorso molto bello, che alterna passaggi su ponti sospesi, gole ed anche grotte.
1) La centrale elettrica
La centrale elettrica costruita nel 1923 è alimentata dall'acqua del Lötzbach attraverso uno stretto condotto di pressione e fornisce elettricità a metà delle famiglie di Zams. In passato, tra le due guerre mondiali, i due generatori fornivano elettricità all'intera comunità di Zams, compreso l'ospedale.
2) La struttura Kneipp
La struttura Kneipp naturale ricorda la potenza dell'acqua Zammer del Lötzbach. L'acqua sfocia nella struttura Kneipp e consente a tutti di trarre energia positiva dal potere della natura.
3) Il ponte sospeso
Secondo la leggenda, il giovane pastore cadde proprio qui, quando il fabbro tagliò i cavi di sospensione del ponte. Ponte che poi è stato ricostruito e offre una vista meravigliosa sullo Stierhorn e sull'antica fucina.
4) Il corno di Zammer
Come la centrale di Lötz, la Zammer Stierhorn incarna l'energia del Lötzbach. Il getto d'acqua dello Stierhorn non è creato artificialmente da pompe, ma si lancia verso il cielo attraverso la pura forza dell'acqua. Lo Stierhorn è illuminato di notte.
THE LOCHPUTZ ROUTE IN TEN STATIONS
The Lochputz route is divided into 10 stations, each of which will tell you something more about the history of this place. And of course also about the legend that, when it comes to Lochputz, can never be missing. A very beautiful hiking trail, which alternates passages on suspension bridges, gorges and even caves.
1) The power plant
The power plant built in 1923 is fed by water coming from the Lötzbach through a narrow pressure pipe and supplies electricity to half of the Zams families. In the past, between the two world wars, the two generators supplied electricity to the entire community of Zams, including the hospital.
2) The Kneipp facility
The natural Kneipp structure recalls the power of the Lötzbach Zammer water. The water flows into the Kneipp facility and allows everyone to draw positive energy from the power of nature.
3) The suspension bridge
According to legend, the young shepherd fell right here when the blacksmith cut the cables of the suspension bridge. This bridge was later rebuilt and offers now a wonderful view of the Stierhorn and the old forge.
4) The Zammer horn
Like the Lötz power plant, the Zammer Stierhorn embodies the energy of Lötzbach. The water jet of the Stierhorn is not artificially created by pumps, but rushes skyward through the sheer force of water. The Stierhorn is illuminated at night.
5) La vecchia fucina
Oggi sono visibili solo le mura di fondazione, poiché la leggenda vuole che la fucina sia stata vittima di un grande incendio, insieme al suo proprietario, il vecchio fabbro.
6) La torre romana
Il Römerturm risale al tempo delle guerre di Appenzello nel 1406 e faceva parte di un complesso di dighe, che originariamente consisteva in tre torri e un muro continuo che arrivava fino alla locanda.
7) La cascata
Qui il Lötzbach si tuffa a trenta metri nella valle. Nel corso dei millenni, l'acqua si è fatta strada nella valle e scorre costantemente verso il basso ad una velocità di circa 1500 l / secondo.
5) The old forge
Today, only the foundation walls are visible, as legend has it that the forge was the victim of a great fire, together with its owner, the old blacksmith.
6) The Roman tower
The Römerturm dates back to the time of the Appenzell Wars in 1406 and was part of a dam complex, which originally consisted of three towers and a continuous wall that reached up to the inn.
7) The waterfall
Here the Lötzbach plunges from thirty meters into the valley. Over the millennia, water has worked her wayinto the valley and nowadays is constantly flowing downwards at a rate of around 1500 l / second.
8) La grotta dello specchio
Noterete diversi specchi sulle pareti della caverna. No, non sono lì per caso. Questi specchi provengono dalla grande punta d'argento e la leggenda narra che queste lastre di pietra, grazie al loro luccichio, offrano alle persone l'opportunità di dare uno sguardo ai loro cuori.
8) The cave of the mirror
You will notice several mirrors on the cave walls. No, they're not there by chance. These mirrors come from the great silver tip and legend has it that these stone slabs, thanks to their shimmer, offer people the opportunity to take a look into their hearts.
9) L'assunzione di acqua
Con i suoi tetti, scivoli e aperture, la presa d'acqua per la centrale elettrica serve a proteggere il sistema di tunnel dall'ingresso dell'inondazione.
10) Toro e ninfa
Probabilmente il luogo più misterioso nella gola. E' qui, infatti, che il toro e la ninfa si unirono per sempre...
Una piccola deviazione dalla "180", la strada che da Zams conduce a Resia e quindi all'Italia, permette di salire sino al ghiacciao Kaunertal (Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße). Noi non l'abbiamo percorsa perchè, dovendo scegliere tra le tante bellezze della tappa odierna, abbiamo preferito concentrarci su altre bellezze naturali. Tuttavia la Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße rappresenta un must, soprattutto per i motociclisti, quando si passa da queste parti. La strada del ghiacciaio di Kaunertal è infatti una delle strade di alta montagna più suggestive delle Alpi. Conduce da Feichten fino al margine del ghiaccio perenne, ad un'altitudine di 2.750 metri, direttamente al ghiacciaio Weißseeferner. Questa strada panoramica è lunga 26 chilometri e presenta, in totale, 29 tornanti con un dislivello di quasi 1.500 metri. Dalla piattaforma panoramica a 3.108 metri godrete di un panorama mozzafiato sulle vette di Italia, Svizzera e Tirolo. Per percorrerla dovrete pagare 25 euro a vettura ed ad attendervi troverete questi 4 imperdibili stop: il Cafe-Bistro Seepanorama, il punto panoramico Rock-Cinema, il Weißsee lake (stazione 28) ed infine Fernereggspitze (stazione 33), un percorso di 20 minuti circa che regala, alla sua conclusione, viste fenomenali.
CURON E IL CAMPANILE PIU' FAMOSO D'ITALIA
Attraversato il confine e rientrati in Italia, incrocerete immediatamente un bellissimo lago ed una carinissima cittadina, Curon, nel cuore della Val Venosta. Sì, quella Curon. Per quei pochi che ancora non conoscessero né la cittadina, nè il lago e tantomeno il suo famosissimo campanile che emerge dall'acqua, ci ha pensato Netflix con l'omonima (e pessima) serie tv a rendere questo piccolo angolo del nord Italia una mecca per i turisti di tutta Europa. Tutti, ovviamente sono qui non tanto per il lago, la cui bellezza meriterebbe decisamente di più, ma per il campanile.
9) Water intake
With its roofs, chutes and openings, the water intake for the power plant serves to protect the tunnel system from floods.
10) Bull and nymph
Probably the most mysterious place in the gorge. It is here, in fact, that the bull and the nymph came together forever...
KAUNERTALER GLETCHERSTRASSE, THE ROAD OF THE GLACIER
A small detour from the "180", the road that leads from Zams to Resia and then to Italy, allows you to climb up to the Kaunertal glacier (Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße). We have not traveled it because, having to choose among the many beauties of today's stage, we preferred to focus on other natural beauties. However, the Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße is a must, especially for motorcyclists. The Kaunertal Glacier Road is in fact one of the most impressive high mountain roads in the Alps. It leads from Feichten to the edge of perennial ice at an altitude of 2,750 meters, directly to the Weißseeferner glacier. This panoramic road is 26 kilometers long and has a total of 29 hairpin bends with an elevation gain of almost 1,500 meters. From the viewing platform located at 3,108 meters visitors will enjoy a breathtaking view of the peaks of Italy, Switzerland and Tyrol. If you want to travel it, you will have to pay 25 euros per car. You'll then find these 4 unmissable stops waiting for you: the Cafe-Bistro Seepanorama, the Rock-Cinema viewpoint, the Weißsee lake (station 28) and finally Fernereggspitze (station 33), a 20-minute hike about which gives phenomenal views.
CURON AND THE MOST FAMOUS BELL TOWER IN ITALY
After crossing the border and returning to Italy, you will immediately notice a beautiful lake and a very pretty town, Curon, located in the heart of Val Venosta. Yes, that Curon. For those few who still did not know neither the town, nor the lake and even less its famous bell tower that emerges from the lake, Netflix has produced the homonymous (and very bad) TV series to make this little corner of northern Italy a mecca for tourists from all over the Europe. All the people are not here for the beautiful lake (whose beauty deserves much more), but for the bell tower, of course.

Il consiglio è quello di parcheggiare non nel parcheggio vicino al campanile, sempre affollato, ma di superare la cittadina in direzione sud e lungo la Statale 40 e, poco prima della fine del lago, prendere la svolta a destra (provenendo da nord), che conduce al parcheggio sterrato. Da qui potrete percorrere qualche centinaio di metri a piedi sul lungolago sino al campanile.
We recommend not to park your car in the parking lot close to the bell tower, which is always crowded, but to pass the town towards south along the Statale 40 and, just before the end of the lake, take the right turn (coming from the north), which leads to a dirt parking lot. From here you can walk a few hundred meters along the lakefront up to the bell tower.
Sia d’estate che d'inverno, quando il lago di Resia è coperto da una spessa coltre di ghiaccio, il campanile di Curon fa sempre un certo effetto. La leggenda narra che, nelle notti d’inverno, quando il lago ghiaccia e il campanile si può addirittura raggiungere a piedi, si sentano ancora suonare le campane. Campane che tuttavia furono rimosse il 18 luglio 1959, prima della creazione del bacino artificiale.
Both in summer and in winter, when Lake Resia is covered by a thick blanket of ice, the Curon bell tower still makes an impression. Legend has it that, on winter nights, when the lake freezes and the bell tower can even be reached by walk, the bells can still be heard. However, bells were removed on July 18, 1959, before the creation of the artificial basin.
GLORENZA, IN UNO DEI BORGHI PIU' BELLI IL WHISKY PIU' BUONO D'ITALIA
Visitare Glorenza è un must quando si passa dalla Val Venosta e quindi dal famoso lago di Resia. Siamo solo ad una mezz'oretta a sud da Curon, in uno dei borghi più belli di tutta Italia, snodo importante già nel XII, trovandosi nella strategica posizione tra Austria, Svizzera e Lombardia. Si entra nella cittadina attraverso una delle tre porte – Porta Sluderno a est, Porta Malles a nord, Porta Tubre a ovest – e si cammina tra le belle facciate delle case fiabesche di un borgo davvero romantico. Proprio qui si tenne un processo davvero unico particolare. Siamo nel 1519, quando un cittadino, in rappresentanza dei suoi compaesani che vollero salvare i propri campi dall'invasione dei topi, portò in tribunale... proprio i topi! La sentenza lì condanno all'esilio, ma ottennero alcune condizioni: su tutte un ponte per attraversare il fiume e una concessione di due settimane in più per i topi malati.
GLORENZA, THE BEST ITALIAN WHISKEY...
IN ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE
Visiting Glorenza is a must when you are in Val Venosta and then in the famous lake of Resia area. We are just half an hour south of Curon, in one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, an important hub already in the 12th century, being in a strategic position between Austria, Switzerland and Lombardy (Italy). Visitors can enter the town through one of the three doors - Porta Sluderno to the east, Porta Malles to the north, Porta Tubre to the west - and walk among the beautiful façades of the fairy-tale houses of this truly romantic village. Don't forget that a very unique particular trial was held right here in this village. It's 1519 when a citizen, representing his fellow villagers who wanted to save their fields from the invasion of mice, brought them to the court! Mices were exilied, but they obtained some conditions: for example a bridge to cross the river and a concession of two more weeks for the sick rats.
Ma ormai, quando si parla di Glorenza, si parla anche di whisky. Già, perchè qui si trova anche la prima distilleria di Whisky italiana, ma già diventata la seconda come produzione a livello europeo. Parliamo ovviamente della Distilleria Puni, che offre anche oltre ad un ricchissimo shop, anche la possibilità di effettuare visite guidate di 60 minuti, dove viene illustrata ogni parte del processo produttivo e l’origine delle materie prime. Con degustazione finale, ovviamente. Il visitor center è aperto dalle 14.30 alle 18.30, le visite guidate avvengono alle 16.30 (riferimento al 2020).

We are obviously talking about the Puni Distillery, which also offers, in addition to a very rich shop, the change to take part in a 60-minute guided tours, where each part of the production process and the origin of the raw materials are illustrated. At the end you'll get a free tasting. The visitor center is open from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm, guided tours take place at 4.30 pm (reference to 2020).
A SOLDA VERSO I RIFUGI CITTA' DI MILANO E MADRICCIO
Siamo in debito, come avevamo anticipato all'inizio del post, anche con la giornata successiva. Per la sera, l'ultima, ci siamo fermati nella cittadina di Solda, a due passi dallo Stelvio e dall'omonima cittadina. Ci siamo concessi un'ultima notte di qualità, al Paradies Pure Mountain Resort (4 stelle) che consigliamo vivamente se doveste passare da queste parti. E, grazie ai consiglio dei gentilissimi receptionist, la mattina successiva, prima di rientrare a casa (causa pioggia), abbiamo preso la cabinovia e raggiunto il rifugio Città di Milano (per non farci sentire troppo la mancanza di... casa), situato a 2581 metri sul livello del mare. Da qui, a piedi, siamo saliti di ulteriori 300 metri sino a raggiungere il rifugio Madriccio (Madritsch Hütte), a 2820 metri sul livello del mare. Sin dall'arrivo al rifugio Città di Milano si è aperta una vista splendida sul gruppo delle Ortles, un panorama che durante il nostro viaggio non avevamo ancora avuto modo di poter ammirare. Dopo tutto, non ci eravamo mai spinti così in alto. Al rientro, abbiamo scelto di non prendere nuovamente la cabinovia, ma di percorrere l'intero percorso a piedi, scendendo di circa 800 metri in poco più di un'ora, tra cime innevate, splendide cascate e prati fioriti. Vi lasciamo dai 2820 metri del rifugio Madriccio, con l'ultima carrellata di immagini da quel paradiso naturale chiamato Dolomiti...
IN SOLDA TOWARDS CITY OF MILAN AND MADRICCIO MOUNTAIN HUTS
We are in debt, as we told at the beginning of the post, also with the following day. For the last stay, we stopped in the town of Solda, a stone's throw from the Stelvio mountain pass and. We took a quality last night, at the Paradies Pure Mountain Resort (4 stars) which we highly recommend if you were to pass through this area. And, thanks to the advice of the very kind receptionists, the next morning, before returning home (due to rain), we took the cable car and reached the Città di Milano mountain hut located at 2581 meters above sea level. From here, by walk, we climbed up another 300 meters until we reached the Madriccio mountain hut (Madritsch Hütte), at 2820 meters above sea level. From the moment we arrived at the Città di Milano, a splendid view of the Ortles mountain group opened up, a panorama that we had not yet been able to admire during our trip. After all, we had never pushed ourselves this high. Upon returning, we chose not to take the cable car again, we preferred to hike the entire trail which descends 800 meters in just over an hour, among snow-capped peaks, splendid waterfalls and flowery meadows. We leave you from here, from the 2820 meters of the Madriccio refuge, with the latest roundup of images from that natural paradise called Dolomites ...
