As it often happens in America, we are ready to change our plans. We are surprisingly going to visit the Tumacacori National Historical Park instead of the border town of Nogales.
L'influenza messicana è ben evidente anche ad una manciata di chilometri dal confine ed avendo già visitato El Paso, altra città di confine, due estati fa, scegliamo durante il viaggio di cambiare rotta e fermarci al Tumacacori.
The Mexican influence is evident also few miles far from the border and actually we've already visited another border town, two summers ago: El Paso. That's why we avoid Nogales, the next stop will be Tumacacori.
Il biglietto d'ingresso costerebbe cinque dollari ciascuno, ma approfittiamo dell'occasione per acquistare immediatamente il pass annuale dei parchi (80 dollari) che ci permetterà di visitare tutto quello che è "National". Tombstone, il cui significato è pietra tombale, è chiaramente l'icona classica del vecchio west, una città chiaramente tra le più pericolose ai tempi dei fuorilegge e che, se visitata con la giusta mentalità e magari con gli occhi chiusi per qualche secondo, vi riporterà indietro nel tempo.
Tombstone is clearly a western icon, one of the most dangerous town during the times of outlaws. If visited with the right attitude and perhaps with your eyes closed for a few seconds, this town will take you back in time.
Una strada polverosa, nella quale non sono ammesse auto, gli antichi edifici, gli abitanti che ancora oggi si vestono come negli anni in cui Tombstone rappresentava il west... manca davvero il fuorilegge che scende dalle montagne con il suo cavallo per completare l'opera.
A dusty road, where no cars are allowed, the old buildings, the people who still dress like when Tombstone was the west ... if an outlaw had come down from the mountain with his horse well... it would have really been the old wild west!
Perchè la giusta mentalità? Perchè al bordo delle strade ci sono le automobili, perchè ovviamente è diventato un bel trappolone per turisti (ogni giorno viene riproposta la sparatoria)... e la lista non finirebbe qui.
Why with the right attitude? Because there are many cars on the edge of the streets, because obviously it has become quite a tourist trap ... and the list would not end here.
We really appreciated this place, especially Ale who has attended a mini "gunslinger" lesson!
Cosa vedere? Ovviamente l'Ok Corral (a pagamento), il municipio, il cimitero dove sono sepolti anche i protagonisti della famosa sparatoria, i saloon, la miniera e l'ufficio postale.
What to see? Obviously the OK Corral (fee required), the City Hall and the cemetery where tthere are even the protagonists of the famous shootout, the saloon, the mine and the post office.
The last but not the least... the bird Cage Theatre: it was once a saloon, a gambling place and a brothel and the New York Times described it as the wilder nightclub of the entire United States. 140 bullet holes are still visible on the ceiling ...

Il nostro economicissimo resort è splendido: c'è veramente tutto ed i signori alla reception sono davvero gentilissimi. Nonostante una cavalletta che, intrufolatasi in camera, non ci farà dormire, dobbiamo ammettere che è davvero molto, molto bello. Ceniamo in un saloon a Tucson (cattletown il suo nome)...
Our cheaply resort is amazing: you can find literally everything and the people at the reception are very very friendly. Despite a big fight with a grasshopper in our room we really had a great time. We have dinner in a saloon in Tucson (its name is Cattletown) ...
